Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
The funny thing about equipment is you always want to upgrade, even after you've upgraded a few times.
I started with PC lighting, then went to T5 then MH
I started with HOB filters and powerheads and went to closed loops systems and refugiums and I STILL wish i could upgrade to a drilled...
I decided Wachovia was the worst bank ever, years ago.
I had a credit card through them. Every month I'd get double charges, or the balance would just be wrong. And every month they'd fix it, and raise my limit.
After about 6 months my $5k card was up to $23k limit, and I told them to cancel...
Just a note on buying water.
You'd think it'd be easier than it is.
I started that way for my 29g.
5g a week, right?
Well, you also need to take into account the fact that your tank will lose a few gallons a week, so you need non-salted RO/DI water, so now you need 2 bucket fulls, 10g a...
Ok, so I've read both of your threads and you seem really stuck on this 'how many 5g question'.
Are you asking how many buckets of salt you're going to need to buy to fill up a 30g tank, or how many buckets of mixed saltwater to fill up?
A ~$50 bucket of salt should last you approx 6 months in...
PS - I use a 5 gallon bucket for mixing saltwater for my 29g. I do 5g a week.
My basic mixing strategy is:
RO/DI water (comes out of the tap COLD) into the bucket with the appropriate amount of salt.
Stick in a maxijet 1200 and cover it in my garage.
24 hrs later the salt is mixed and the...
No, you don't absolutely need a protein skimmer on a 30 gallon tank. I've never used one on mine, and it's been up and running for over a year. It doesn't have anything to do with beginner or advanced, but it's a matter of being a great filter for a saltwater tank.
I don't think power filters...
Last time I was in Allquatics was months ago. Maybe 6 of them. The store was really nice. Tons of coral, tons of inverts, tons of fish.
I went into the store about 2 days ago, needing some snails and crabs, looked around for about 5 minutes and walked out.
The store looks like it's on its...
You guys should look into kill-a-watts. You plug them into the wall, then plug the appliances into the thing and it tells you how much it costs you in electricity. Sometimes people have extra freezers or whatever that use 2-3x more electricity than they probably should...or a newer one would...
Wow. Our last bill was ~$180 for the month. That includes 3 computers running 24/7, the tank with 900 GPH, MJ1200 and 175 MH running 10 hrs a day, plasma tv and stereo and then all the normal stuff like fridge, extra freezer, etc.
I guess it's time for you guys to start sale shopping for some...
Actually, Mike, I've never heard of the reasoning you just mentioned for garlic. Usually I hear that it's a natural immune booster in almost any animal, and it just helps keep their...well, their immune system up to help them fight off issues.
Thanks, Phyl. I'm going to give them a shout, but right now we don't actually have a floor in downstairs, so that's part of what I need done. I'm not sure if these guys do it, but I'm going to ask!
:)
I've a basement that needs waterproofing and concrete and was wondering if anyone had had any good luck with any particular contractor for such.
I live in central, NJ, if that makes any difference.
Thanks!
