Alright...done thinking:
Hopefully he works out. He's a cute little guy, and after watching that poor sick fish in QT, this guy is off the hook. I put food in and he attacked it like it was an enemy.
And he's only been in the tank for 5 mins. ;)
Well, the way the fuge is set up doesn't really allow any redirection of flow.
It's like this:
The tube on the left loops over into the tank and has a little powerhead on the end in the tank, right below the water level.
The box on the top left is where the water flows over and then through...
Tank is looking sweet!
The site, though, I'm not to sure about. Looks like it was built on one of those Fisher-Price computers. Macs or somesuch, I think they call them.
;D
Hey guys,
I was looking over my tank last night...like I do every night ;) and I noticed that there's a thin layer of detritus on top of the sand in my fuge.
My fuge is an aquafuge by CPR. It's about 5 inches thick, 14 long and 9 high, and I have a few pieces of rubble, a 1/2 inch of sand and...
Hey guys,
I'm with you on the minimalism thing, to a point, which is why I'm really trying to think about what i want. My tank has come so far and I don't want to blow it.
Those cardinals are too goofy for me. I know they're popular and hearty and a lot of people seem to like them, but...never...
Actually, it doesn't make much sense, but I'd like a showpiece fish.
I was just at Petco and almost grabbed a small angel. They had Eibli (sp?), Coral Beauties and even one tiny Pygmy Angel.
But then I decided to forgo it. My tank is doing so well these days (most rocks are bald of algae)...
Thanks, Carlo.
However, after the pygmy hawk ate all my crustaceans, I decided no more hawks.
I really do like them, but they're a bit of a hassle most of the times...and the ones that aren't are a bit of a hit or miss type of thing, IMO.
Thanks for the suggestion, though!
I'll look into those, thanks for the recommendations.
A little worried about wrasses, since my tank doesn't have a tight fitting lid, and i don't really want to install one...
Hate to come home and find my house on fire because a fish jumped for the sun, hit the light and burnt to a crisp...
Hey guys,
After my stint with the Powder Brown, I'd like a new fish. I have QT tanks set up and ready to roll, so it seems like a good time to do it.
Basically, I have a 29g with a lot of rock.
Current fishie inhabitants are:
2 SMALL clowns (1 inch each maybe)
2 SMALL chromies (3/4 inch-1...
I'd recommend skipping the skimmer and keeping up on water changes. ;)
Skimmers are such a pain, and the smaller they are, the more useless they seem to be, IMO.
Brought him home at lunchtime and made up a tank for him, so tomorrow at lunch will be his first official tank change since he's been in my care.
I've got the ro/di filling up my second 10 gallon right now and then about 4:30 I'll mix in salt and let it stir until I get home for lunch tomorrow...
From what I understand (and again...no expert) after about 9 months on metal halide and 6 months on PC, the frequency can shift due to age and the spectrum it puts out is more apt to grow algae than corals.
Or something like that. ;)
Tina,
I'm by no means an expert, but I have excelled at alge growth in the past.
You didn't mention what temperature the tank has been. When I had hair algae really bad, my tank was in the low 80s and the hair seemed to thrive.
If you test your water right now, what do you get?
Maybe in the...
