New 90 Gallon Reef setup. - Going to need alot of advice.

I would not use the presence of Asterina as a indication of water quality. It certainly is a good sign that they are alive, but you really can't take the place of doing the proper testing for water quality using your test kits.

New 90 Gallon Reef setup. - Going to need alot of advice.

Sounds like you have Asterina starfish. There is a love/hate feeling about Asterina. Some folks don't have a problem with them....others want them out. Note that a very small percentage are known to eat certain corals. The general belief is that white is safe....colored Asterina could...

    This is just awful!

Wait one minute......wasn't this a tank with sharks, rays and lionfish???? Guess what.......trichlorfon should not be used on these guys. So death would have happened anyway. Something smells fishy here. Here's the warning right from drug information: DO NOT USE ON FISH THAT ARE...

How to tell when rbta is happy.

The smaller (male) isn't ignoring the anemone. It's the mean, overbearing, dominant female that's hogging the anemone saying, "This is mine! Keep out!!!" My male us to try and sneak a feel from the anemone by swimming and staying underneath the anemone.

I've got the drill bit if you need to use it. It's relatively easy. Just need to keep it wet and go slow.

Go Glass-Holes overflow. You need to drill the side glass.....and the kit comes with the drill bit. Here's the 1500 gph overflow with two 1 1/2 inch drains. The 700 kit only has one 1 1/2 inch drain.

Welcome To NJRC! Take a minute to introduce yourself

Welcome Nikki. You've found a great site. I'd suggest starting a Tale of the Tank where you can post info on your tank and ask away with questions you might have.

You also may wish to consider a refractometer over a swing-arm hydrometer. Swing-arms tend to be accurately inaccurate. What I mean by this is that a swing-arm will consistantly give you the wrong number. Because of this, as a minimum, consider calibrating the swing-arm to someone who...

    Tired of replacing t5 bulbs

Yes! You get three fixtures. Search ebay and you'll find quite a few that are very similar....around 87 - 90 each....with free shipping. And I know nothing specific about these fixtures......but I'd give them a shot at that price.

    Tired of replacing t5 bulbs

Your budget and whether or not you want full controllability will help determine the fixture(s) best for you. If you want least expensive, full spectrum, two channel, manual control......you can't beat THIS deal. Now you could most likely get away with just two of these fixture, but I'd go...

Does anyone have a fish trap I can borrow?!

Here's the trick about bottle traps.....you cut a small hole in the side to fit the end of a turkey baster. Put the trap in your tank....actually leave the trap in your tank so the fish become use to it. Now fill the turkey baster with some delicious food.....I use mysis. Put the turkey...

    Coralife Digital Powermodule

Well HERE is the extension Y cables I was talking about: You can also get similar three or four versions of these.... But if I'm not mistaken, I thought you had six fixtures. You might just want to use two power strips and tie all the blues togother and all the whites together.

Karen, you can also combine thhose cords using "Y" or even triple or quad short extensions. I'm not home right now, but when I get there, I'll post what I'm talking about.

Stupid question regarding servicing TYPHOON III AQUARIUM RO DI 75 or 100 GPD

I would definitely buy a new sediment filter and carbon blocks (and DI). I'm not directly familiar with this unit, but if it doesn't have TDS capability, I'd pick up a TDS tester and use it to check the membrane. Most good membranes for 75 gpd have a rejection rate of about 98 percent...

New 90 Gallon Reef setup. - Going to need alot of advice.

Do you see small little tubes....about 1/16 inch diatmeter? If so, these are vermetid snails....that can't move like a conventional snail. They put out sweeper tenticles that look web-like. Do a search on vermetid snails and look at the images. That's my guess.
