Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Calaxa, Yes, you can convert the numbers yourself if you know the chart... if you don't know to expect the difference you are going to go on the assumption that the SG is accurate when it may or may not be.
I saw this error first hand at the frag swap. While our refractometer is supposedly ATC...
My guess is the file size is too big to be used for an avatar. Just as well. All of that motion would make me seasick (not to mention the burning question of why you would use someone else (other than SO/children) as your avatar).
Making sure the water is up to temp prior to measuring the SG is critical because the SG will read higher at lower temperatures, giving you a false high reading. This will cause your tank SG to decline over time.
They'll grow and fight their way to the light. No need to disrupt the colony growth by plucking them out. As the babies mature their "stems" grow to meet the others. If you are interested in fragging it, just pluck off the outter head or two and whatever comes with it.
Thanks, Steve! Here's a fine place for it. Bringing a covered dish defintely helps to spread the expense and workload. It also gives us all the opportunity to sample, so feel free to bring a dish!
The water in the CPAP machine is being used the same way it would be in a humidifier. It isn't enough water to consider it a "glass of water" and just keeps the air moist so that you aren't breathing dry air all night (especially when we're running our heaters). I think you want the water pure...
Definitely the parameters of a newly cycling tank. The Ammo (unless you're getting a false positive) may indicate that your tank is still adjusting to your bioload. The Nitrates aren't the end of the world (unless you're a coral). In a reef I'd try to keep them under 10. The PH could stand to be...
What kind of Ca monitor do you think you want? My understanding is that there isn't anything practically affordable that will "monitor" your calcium. Test kits (or a colorimeter that is no easier than using the test kits) are your only option.
I'd love to be wrong on this.
