Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Thanks Bax!
I think I made a mistake in considering my tank as being established enough.
The tank was filled with saltwater in November and established rock that had been cooking was added then.
The mass migration from the 75 happened in January from an established system that was 3 years old...
If it's still alive and hiding somewhere I agree with you Phil.
But if it went on to the Great Reef, then I'm wondering what's wrong that i can't keep a linkia alive for more than a few days.
I think if all of your parameters are good and stable, and your corals and fish are healthy, then leave things as they are.
Sounds like this is a issue in the reefs at large because it inhibits reef building. But in a home aquarium, so what?
If you want to give a boost to your coralline, make...
So the question is, what do you need to accomplish?
You have all the basics and if the tank is doing well and you have all the time you need to keep up with it, then you are good.
Do you spend too much time topping off? Then I would look into and auto topoff solution.
Are you dosing calcium...
So the Blue Linkia experiment is a failure.
I don't know if he died, but he hasn't been seen in over a week. I wanted to add some WOW to the tank without a lot of bioload. But if you can't see something, it doesn't make anyone go wow!
I may add one more centerpiece fish, but does anyone have...
Save water from your water changes and use it when you rinse and scrub. Don't use tapwater.
If you have some time between taking them out and putting them into the new tank, like days or weeks, put them in a dark container with a powerhead and a heater. then take them out and rinse and scrub again.
I've not observed any in the current setup.
In the 75 they were much close and the stinging only seemed to affect the edges of the cap. I could see some minor burning, but they continued to grow.
Thanks williah.
I live in Woodbridge (07095)if you want to check it out in person.
The 75 has 5x110w VHO's on two IceCap ballasts. There are 3 50/50 actinic whites and 2 super actinics. This tank is now a somewhat neglected softie tank. When it starts looking pretty again it will get a new...
Glad I decided to wander by this thread, I have a new friend that likes the same corals I do! Welcome!
I haven't followed this thread because I use VHO's. I have experimented with T5's on my QT tank and I just don't think the colors are as good. My preferred mix is One UV Super Actinic to 2 UV...
Good feedback Jeff.
I thought it might be intensity as well so if I try 2 50/50's and the cyano increases, I'll bring the third super actinic back online and have the same mix that you had.
Funny about the skunk and the blood. I have both and so far no problems.
So a second aptasia has appeared and still no sign of the peppermints, even though I have spent a lot of time looking at the tank after dark with a flaslight. (I'm trying to determine if I still host a blue linckia!)
Does anyone know if blood shrimp or cleaner shrimp have a sweet tooth for...
