Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
OK so everyone is trying to be really nice, but it's time for me to be the bad guy.
I stopped posting to your thread because YOU DON'T LISTEN!
And many others have as well.
Everything you are being told here is spot on. There are significant differences in the physiology of saltwater...
I feel your pain Frank!
When we decided to keep the 180 in the living room it triggered a chain reaction.
We needed new carpet, so it made sense to do that first. I didn't realize I'd be stripping wallpaper and repainting half the house before the carpet could be ordered. ::)
Painting is...
It's more that many SPS thrive in very low nutrient environments, which are easier to achieve and maintain without sand.
There is some benefit to softies from the microfauna that multiply in the sandbed, especially if you give it a good stir now and again.
Yep,
It is largely a product of what you will keep and what type of maintenance your are willing to do.
I keep softies and lps, happy with changing water.
Someday I'll make the choice between The Sandman or RetroReefer for a new screen name. ;)
Let's see what I've got....
HOB skimmer - check AquaC Remora
HOB fuge - check CPR small
WON Titanium heaters - check, 5 years old
Liquid PH test kit - check
I love to live on the edge. ;D
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
Slowly is always better. Nothing good happens fast in reefing!
A higher SG will give you better levels of all the essentials, but it was wise not to change too much during the transition.
It's also a good practice with nano's to runn a little...
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
Looks great James, great job!
Meanwhile I trail even further behind. ::)
One question, why are you running SG on the low side?
Thanks for the link Dave, I'll read up on ME.
So as one old timer to another we both know it's not about finding the perfect salt. Back when we started it was pretty much AO only in those plastic bags with the bottles of liquid trace elements that always leaked during shipping. Or you made your...
Hey Ryan!
Watch for bubbles on the the hydrometer arm. They can give you a high reading by making the arm float. Try to make your next purchase a refractometer. You can get one around $50 and it will save you a lot of grief.
+1?? What do you use Dave?
If you read closely, I'm not trying to save a few bucks as much as make sure I have a salt that is readily available all of the time. I believe any salt can work long term when you learn what supporting requirements they have. My progression of salt choices ran from...
Hey everyone, thanks for all the feedback!
A little history....
Like everyone I went back and forth between IO and Reef Crystals. Not happy with having to supplement so much calcium with IO, not happy about the Reef Crystals scum and scaling in the mix barrel.
Everyone was hot for TM Pro at...
As Tropic Marin continues to get more expensive and more difficult to get, I'm reluctantly exploring other options.
Anyone out there care to share their experiences with this salt??
Thanks in advance! :D
More accolades and praise for the team from this corner as well!
Great job!
Bought my ticket and booked my room, will be there a day early if you need setup help.
You're kidding right? He's always the last to signup. ::)
Of course I'm ready to help now as well. ;)
I guess the tank and stand were free?
I would go with VHO lighting (I always do anyway!) and you won't need fans.
Skip the Gem tang, get a sailfin or nice purple instead and use the money you saved to buy tasty adult beverages to enjoy while watching the tank. ;)
(And remember, never put your...
