    I second the "be careful". I almost nuked my whole tank with ph buffers. Almost a year later and I'm still recovering to this day. Ph buffers are evil. Like Carlo said, watch you Alk.

    yea...the calculator will give you a balanced ratio as a guide based on the desired Ca or Alk. I usually shoot for 440 and 4.0 which is considered balanced. Good Luck, glad I could help. Rich

    Just got back into town after 2 weeks to find this:

    Your gonna have to pull out what you can then aggressive skimming (nutrient export), phosphate media, reduced light period and elevated magnesium should help put a damper on it. Most all new tanks go through it (just maybe not quite so much). A couple herbivorous would be a plus also.
