    Sump with Fixings

Dims: 34"lx18"wx14"h The flow through the fuge will be the discharge from the skimmer only. The water level will be at the top of the elbow into the skimmer from the NW pump. This will put the water at 4" - 5" drop from the bottom of the fuge teeth. This same drop isn't a problem in my sump. If...

    Sump with Fixings

Here you can see the skimmer chamber and the sump intake bubble box. The skimmer discharges through the gate valve mod to feed the fuge. You can also use either a internal or external return pump with this configuration.

Negative Long term effects of Kalk

    Starting to Upset me......

I agree...sounds like cyno. PO4 is a big contributor to nuisance algae and bacteria. Problem is testing for it. Most regular test kits don't detect low enough ranges to be useful and low range test kits are expensive. Plus, the algae and bacteria may be taking up the nutrient so it won't show up...

My new 180 Gallon Reef - Basement Sump- Lots of Pics - similar to John S

Regarding the drain plugs. I've read where guys have had success with placing a bead of silicone on the inside. What they do is tighten the plug in it's female fitting, back it out a quarter to half turn, apply the silicone from the opposite end, let it cure, tighten the cap creating a in-place...

Don't forget to mention that when we updated the site, the hit numbers were cut in half because of the "show unread posts since last visit" and the "show new replies to your posts" options. To compare to Feb, you'll need to double this months hits. March is another record month in new topics...

Two questions on a prospectful set up

That would be an example of a external overflow Bob. I don't know if you saw thoes two acrylic box's sitting at Brians front door but they were for Mike's (SaltH2O's) 500g tank. He is going to solvent weld them to the back at the top just like Sanjays 500g except his will have a gap in the...

Two questions on a prospectful set up

IMO and as John said, the overflows will probably do a fine job but they aren't what's been found to be the most efficient at keeping the surface free of collected proteins. RC has a applet that calculates both the suggested drain pipe size and linear overflow length based on a flow rate (gph)...
