Well my PH is only 8 months old. I clean the PHs every two months. One of my K-6 is making noise and vibrating like crazy. Is it shot? Time to replace it already?

Thanks Taz. I will change carbon this weekend (2 full weeks) and see if the smell disappears. Till then I am going to think happily that the smell is dying algae. Hey, no harm in thinking +ive :P

I have carbon running. The reactor has GFO and carbon. The carbon is from BRS and the hi-capacity one. It has been running for 2 weeks. Is it time to change it already?

Update !! No real change in algae. As Hawk suggested it is indeed diatoms on the glass but there is a lot of green algae in the tank as well. Here is something I did not ask for. There is a distinct smell in the tank. Something like I cannot explain. Like dead stuff combined with decaying...

Phosphate is between 0.3 and 0.5. I filled the whole canister I have. I am using 1.5 times. Let's see how it goes from here. I know I am getting a LOT of algae on the glass each day.

Nothing encouraging to update. The only thing I can say is that my water is cleaner/clearer. The algae is still going strong. I think stronger >:( It is getting frustrating now ... Sunny

I think my tank is pretty bright. Well at least bright enough that I am fighting algae growth after the bulb change :( You are welcome to come and take a look.

You will be fine. I have a 12 bulb T5 fixture on my 150 gallon. It is 30 inch deep. I have SPS upto half way in my tank and they all are very happy. The ATI bulbs are great. I have a combo of ATI, Griesmann and Ice Cap. Sunny
