What is the cost? I have a friend who has a 180 gallon drilled for closed loop that he inherited. The tank is 2 years old. Also has 2 overflows. Needless to say he has no idea what to do with it. So I was thinking to get it. If I get that tank, what else is involved?

Idea is to get non-reef fish. Things that I cannot house in a reef tank. So no benefits for a FOWLR tank?

Anyone has one? How does it work? What are the benefits of this system? Toying with the idea of another FOWLR ;D tank and thinking if closed loop is a good idea. Sunny

Ahh OK I see what you mean. Well I was very sure that adding a new tang now was a bad idea. I just wanted to see if someone thinks otherwise ;D There is always hope you know .. The trigger will be for my FOWLR tank sometime (read soon) down the road ...

Hmm James, that is a good idea. I will however have to convince the wife to get rid of the tangs I have.

OK - I already have a yellow tang, purple tang and a hippo tank (all over 5 inches, hippo is 6). I have been thinking about a powder blue tang... I know, I know it is a bad idea to add a new tang now. Is there anyone who thinks this may work ;D Sunny

So I got a few about 2 months ago and put them in my fuge. I have miracle mud in the fuge. As far as I can tell, they are doing just fine. Currently they are in a styrofoam block (hole in the center) and they float with it. Question is, when the roots are big enough and they can stand tall...

As I said, I am thinking to run GFO in both chambers for now (a month). Then I will run another dual unit with carbon. This, unless you think otherwise.

OK - Ordered the BRS dual reactor GFO/carbon. I just got one for now and would run GFO in both to start since I have a 200G setup. Many thanks to Taz and Mike. Do I need to do anything special before I install it or just set it up? I ordered a maxijet 1200 for it as well. Sunny

Update - Checked my phosphate levels. They are between 0.2 - 0.5 PPM. I used Red sea kit so hard to tell exact color :(. What should they be other than the obvious , zero? I ordered a GFO/calcium reactor anyways. Sunny

Ok here is an update. I just looked at my overflows. The glass is opaque - cannot see a thing back there. I will cleanup on the weekend scrub everything out. I have never seen so much algae on the overflow glass (back wall). I did add the two light in the back :( (ATI blue plus). I also have a...
