I believe hair algae is bad, no matter what. I have known people who have had issues trying to contain it.
A 10 days old tank can get this amount of hair algae?
My tank is cycling for 10 days now. I have lights on the the fuge/sump for 12 hrs. I also added chaeto on Thursday.
Today I see the green algae growth in the fuge. I also see brown algae on the rocks and some green growth on rocks as well. The brown is because of the salt mix I used (Red Sea) I...
Do you think that using an air stone in the unused RO (fresh and saltwater) for air is a good idea? I am thinking about the unused water in the containers in my basement that I would be using as needed for top off and water changes. I am aiming to use all of it in 2 weeks time and keep making...
I have two Koriala PH (Model 6) in my 150 gallon. Each is rated 2200 GPH. Is that too much flow for the tank?

Well I purchased LR from established tanks from Richie and Phyllis. The tank is running with LR, pumps and powerhead since Sunday June 28th (5 days).
I did my tests today and here is what I am seeing ...
Nitrate - 5PPM
Nitrite - 0
PH - 8.4
Ammonia - 0
Temp - 81 F
Is the tank cycled already...
This is precious. Very interesting to know all this. Here is my delima ..
I have the tank in my family room and there is no GFI outlet. Do I need to get an electrician to get one in or will the ground probe suffice?
Very well. I take it back then.
To answer why to keep Mandarin Goby if I will not see it - "I was thinking of controlling the pod growth".
I guess the pods can always be transfered to the main tank for the Goby to eat them :-)
