Rinsing the sand well upfront will keep you from having a cloudy tank for a few days...

You can also let the bottle sit in hot water, shaking it every few minutes. It will dissolve completely so you don't have to see this in the tank next time you dose. In the winter the 2 part I use comes completely solid, and I have to do this for about an hour or so to get it back to liquid.

I think how you do it is just choice. I did my rockwork, added water, and added rinsed dry sand later.

Mags I'm running almost all blues on my LEDs (first step towards white on the Kessil color wheel) and that's it. Blue only in the frag tank. I'm making up the difference with two actinic, and two super actinic T5s. I'm getting the visuals I want to see, but almost no whites. I'm not running...

Just a thought... if you are using a controller you can put an optical sensor at the low water mark that you don't want to go past. If it does, it can trigger the return pump to turn off. With your powerheads still running in the tank, it would be fine for a couple days. Many people run...

How big is the return section of your sump? It must be pretty big to increase salinity so much? Anyway, sorry to hear about those losses... Dave
