Coming in 2013 200 DD reef

'underpants' is 20% funnier than 'underwear,' just FYI. Also, good luck! Can't wait to see!

    Seneye - Anyone have one?

So I've had my Seneye running for about a month. It's OK, not great. The Good: Cheap PAR meter (seems accurate) The Bad: Accuracy: The pH is always off vs a calibrated probe (by about 2/10ths) The temperature was also off by about 2 degrees These two issues combine to throw all the other...

    Vinegar Dosing

This thread now comes up first when you search for 'vinegar dosing' in google. Cool, huh? I started dosing last night, set to dose 1.1ml every 3 hours to start...

    Fish Doctor?

Copps was talking about a quarantine tank, which can be cycled potentially, can have bacteria. Hospital tank is even more bare-bones. They can be the same thing, or not.

    135 Gal Mixer

No, I'm not sure... I stopped reading about them when I realized they'd eat the sand critters!

    Actinics for solana cube

I just got a pair of 48" ecoxotic stunners (the magenta and royal blues)... I'm not wildly impressed, though to be fair I have them about a foot above a 31" tall tank. They just don't penetrate very well. My cree royal blues with wide lenses do a MUCH better job of lighting up the super-bright...

    135 Gal Mixer

They don't bother corals, but I think they eat all the fauna that keeps a DSB healthy. They used to be really frowned upon. Not sure now, with so many going away from DSBs in their display tanks. I personally wouldn't add one, even though they are pretty cool critters, but I'm still an old...

    neptune apex

Don't think that'll work. More likely you'll burn out the Apex, your lights, or both. You'd need to figure out the resistance of your light's potentiometer, then rig up a circuit where the 0-10v coming from the Apex would control a variable resister. It's possible, but a better idea is to get...

    neptune apex

If you do want a WXM, I have one I'm no longer using, about 2 months old. You'd want it if you have a Vortech, otherwise not. On my own Apex, I have the main unit, a PM1 (I think) for temperature on the mixing tank and pH on my calc reactor, an LSM for moonlight, two Energy Bar 8's and an...

    Best non reef safe fish

Not a fish, but horseshoe crabs are cool.

Hey Hunny look at the fish I just ordered- Just posted this on my wifes Facebook.

You need to find an even MORE expensive fish, tell her you got that, then say "Just kidding, what am I crazy? I just got this little $3000 guy right here. And he was on SALE!" Probably tell her this over dinner out...

    jpelzer's 240 in-wall reef

Thanks guys! So I don't have a lot of photos of the other side of the wall, I'll get those going soon. But here's a breakdown of my system: Tanks: 240 gallon glass tank with starfire front panel (72x24x31) 65 gallon acrylic sump 20 gallon glass skimmer tank 20 gallon glass mix tank 29 gallon...

My pH has dropped as well as my kH. Are they proportional?

    jpelzer's 240 in-wall reef

So I then went to work: Getting the tank in proved to be a challenge. I'd measured a million times, even created a full-scale mockup of the tank out of scrap wood, that I manipulated through the side door and down into the basement. But I hadn't taken the tank's weight into account, nor...

    jpelzer's 240 in-wall reef

So it's taken me a while to get this thread started, and of course the tank is still very much a work in progress. But enough has happened that I better start documenting before I start to forget. As you can see from my 'member since,' I've been in the hobby for while, a little over a decade...

    April meeting Thank you

Very nice! Glad I made it... Kind of a trek, but stopped at Ultimate Reefs and picked up some very nice inverts, along with a nice 6" clam from the raffle. Still got some of that regrown newbie luck!

    Amazing, Astounding, Awesome April Event!!!

OK, my question is whether anyone from the north is going... My 4 month old baby is making the trip difficult, I wonder if anyone might be willing to pick up my inverts at the meeting and haul them back?
