Happy Birthday to YOU!
Happy Birthday to YOUUUUUUUU!
Happy Birthday Dear Debbbbbb, Happy Birthday TO YOU! :)
Hope your birthday celebration was a great one!
The thoughts behind the new category was really to help organize the "piles" and make EVERYTHING a little easier to manage. Certainly if the bulk of the nano users would prefer another category for their forum, we'd consider moving it back. Just seems like with the increasing list of forums...
Renee, our kalk reactor doesn't stay clear all the way to the top. It actually clouds all the way up. And the kalk is pretty thick all over. Hmm. Wonder why.
Smart move. With those species that are questionable you just NEVER know. MikeM had a rabbitfish that ate thousands (and I'm probably underestimating that number) dollars worth of zoas.
After the February meeting I temp acclimated our winnings in our sump. I THOUGHT I'd moved everything into the tank (though I did think there was one missing). Sure enough, yesterday when we were moving things around in the sump we found a little baggie with some blasto (skeletin) sealed inside...
We shattered a beautiful colony last night moving things around, so we have a bazillion frags of the purple rim :'(, and one nice sized colony starter (frolony). And two nice frags of scroll. Of course we're pretty far south (Jackson).
I've never seen ours nipping at zoas, but we don't keep any high end ones in there with it either (of course it wouldn't eat those rocks covered in green paylys)!
Speaking of which, we have three larger than grapefruit sized (2-3#) rocks covered in green palys, in various states of happiness...
The very bottom front (actually brown & yellow) is a scroll coral. To the right of that is an oxypora (orange with green rings around the mouth). My green cap with purple rim tops that. Stacking the pile with Orange, purple and green with brown polyp confusa.
Glad to be able to stop by and lend a hand! When you get some of that Marco cured give a hollar and we'll build on what you've got now.
Tell Ma thanks for the candy and hospitality!
Most people continue their "journals" by simply adding a new post. That lets everyone know that you've updated it and they know to check to see what the latest is with your setup. Feel free to add to the thread. It is actually fun that way to see how things change over time!
Thanks, Mike! Unfortunately it isn't my idea. I've seen similar layering in Hef's tank as well as Merv's, among many others, I believe. I'll continue to surround the area with similar colors.
I tried layering them in order of fastest growing going up, with green being the fastest and the purple...
No need to join just one ;) You could join both and attend which ever meetings make the most sense for you. We have a lot of members in common with DVRC as well as other area clubs. The meetings are always a good time, and hopefully a bit educational for all of us! May is the next meeting down...
A dead anemone will foul water fast. You'd do well to wait until you did a few water changes, tested parameters for 4-6 weeks running and gave your new fish load time to establish the proper amount of bio filtration prior to adding an anemone. They like pristine, consistant water and the best...
Some combination of light/flow/food/magnesium is off. Is a powerhead blowing on it or another coral stinging it? It can recover that skeletin if whatever bothering it stops.
