February 2008 Meeting - Saturday 23rd Cherry Hill

Cash is good, Kathy, I'm not fussy :) Renee, I know I have some psammacora on egg crate and some zoas, I'll have to check to see what else we kept. If you want the psammacora, pick something else you think I'll like out of your SPS & we'll trade. The piece of egg crate is easily 3x3 (probably...

    go outside and look up

Looks great. I made some *FUTILE* attempts at photographing it. Lame. But I did enjoy looking at it. I think the next one is slated for 2010.

I suddenly have a perponderance of frags available if anyone is interested. Just let me know if you want any of the above listed frags!

The cards are going out again. Except for the last 2 weeks or so, everyone should have theirs. Members who don't should post in the Member's Only thread. Thanks!

February 2008 Meeting - Saturday 23rd Cherry Hill

Scuba Dude, LPS generally grows more slowly than SPS and so fragging it isn't as appealing. It takes LPS much longer to recover the look from a peice being removed. That being said, I may have some frags of chalices from my system move. I'll have to look and see how they've healed to see if...

In addition to the PH pen/meter, I'd highly recommend a refractometer to measure your salt content accurately. They'll run you 40$ or so, but given the costs of the rest of the system, it is money well spent.

    29gallon newbie

I wouldn't get rid of the "dead zoas". Those things have been known to survive days on end in a thermos traveling around the US. Give them some time. Even if they don't live, they'll take back over that rock in no time. Hang in there.

    Loctite super glue gel

We bought accelerator when we bought the glue through the club group buy. I use it when I'm setting frags, and rarely have a miss-fire. I do wish the glue were thicker though and the next time we buy glue we'll be looking for thicker gunk for sure!

    Starting from scratch

What pump/s did you have moving water? Breaking surface? Fish per gallon? Sounds like an O2 issue on the surface. Sorry, Francis. Ouch that hurts.

    Spray Bar Holes

In a closed loop type setup this might work the way you inteded. I'm not sure what size the holes are in the spray bar in my Ca reactor, but those look like a good size. Anyone know what size MRC made the Ca reactor spray bar holes? FWIW, Bluestraveler (the guy who owned our tank before us) had...

    Just in time for Easter

Hydno will spread a web to anything within a 3-4" radius of it. Those zoas behind it may be equally in danger. Make sure it has good clearance. If you can't find a spot with good clearance, I might have one. ;D

    Conversion to 180g

Most recent Macro shots are here. :) I'll take another FTS after I drag up the rest of the corals that belong in the tank. Maybe I'll do some more of that on Friday night. What a process that is! We carried them down in totes, but I didn't like the way they sloshed around, so I brought them...

    Spray Bar Holes

So you're going to put this spraybar under the rock? How far up the pipes will these spraybar holes go, and how are you planning on stopping the back siphon? Have you tested this to see if the theory will work? I'd be very nervous about having a multitude of holes at the bottom of my tank like...

    Japanese Swallowtail Angelfish

We have a pair of Bellus in our 180. They are beautiful and thus far very well behaved additions to the reef.
