I'm sorry if you took that as sarchastic, but really, if you can't grow chaeto you might have a system that is TOO nutrient poor. A nutrient poor system will lack the color and pop of a tank with proper balance.

Personally, I'd rather have a pump than a mechanical stirrer. The magnetic ones pique my interest, but the mechanical ones are no better (and possibly worse) than using a cheap, easily accessible pump. Why go with the stirrer?

I would stongly advise against this. It is a recipe for disaster. Matching the outflow to the infeed is going to be unpredictable and ever changing.
