Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I was thinking you should start with an additional 150# of rock, less if using Marco (125?) rather than 350 additional. That rock will take up a LOT of space!
2 Mag18s will overwhelm your overflow (1200gph is standard on a RR tank), unless you've got some CRAZY head loss. We ran a mag 12 (with...
The grape caulerpa is actually more likely to spawn than the feather/fern-y looking kind. I've got the grape and (knock on wood) haven't had a problem with it going sexual. Over rated concern unless you really neglect your fuge (I've even done that with both the razor caulerpa & grape and didn't...
NO3, PO4, PH, Alk & Ca numbers for your tank may provide some insight. Post those up when you get a chance so that we can get an idea of where your tank is at. Also, info on what corals you keep, how they grow, and what lights are over your fuge.
Sounds like a great test kit, especially for the older homes (but with all the water most of us run, lots of those would be great to test for no matter how old the house).
Any links to the test?
It would be cool to do somehting like this:
We could invite the top winners to come and accept their awards at the swap in October. I would say that we should invite all of the high schools to participate and that we would invite a celebrity to award the prize (500$ to the winner, for...
Time is the best way to do this. Yes, your PH buffer will raise your alk. If you've got low PH with high alk, you most likely have too much CO2 (and here's were that Kalk reactor comes into play! It would definitely help you with this.
Stop dosing alk/ph buffer and keep increasing your Ca as...
It is my comment he's biting his tongue about. We've already had the conversation before and "technically" my statement isn't "accurate" although in practice it is what countless reefers experience. I was just asking that he didn't argue my experience in this particular thread. I'm sure a search...
Depending on the coral you'll want to use pro corals cure, flat worm exit and some iodine in separate dips, prior to introducing. I'm not sure about zoas (not my area of knowledge).
Bob, you probably also don't run halides/HO Flo on the FOWLR. I think that's also a critical differnce.
Right now, our 65 looks like Wendy's tank did (and that's better than it was a couple of weeks ago)! Not having a cleanup crew in there for too long contributed to the problem as did not...
Re: NOAA Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Protections for Threatened Elkhorn Cor
Exactly! Hopefully someone will come up with a way for a compromise. If anyone has ideas to propose for a way around the full ban please be sure to send them to NOAA.
The problem with just banning collection is then you don't have any way of proving what was brought in illegally v. what was brought in prior to the deadline (except that I have pictures from 2004 of these corals in my system :) ). There needs to be an easy way to manage it, and the only way for...
