Thanks Eric and nyfire, I'm sure going to need a lot of strong people to move the tank as it's going to be a heavy one ::) I plan on getting it made out of glass.
Thanks Wendy but it's not a definite yet, so far only you and another fiend offered to help. The more I think about it the more discouraged I get. I'm starting to wonder if it's just too much for me to handle. I tossed around the idea of a 265, but it wouldn't look right in that spot. Once I get...
Well the wife said if we take the knee wall out between the kitchen and family room I could possibly put a tank there as a room divider. Cost is a major factor for construction as it would take away from the money I'd have to invest in the tank. If it costs too much she'll never go for it.
My...
Ed, is there a post or websight with his study/testing, bulb by bulb results? I'd like to check it out if there is. I remember talking to Sanjay awhile ago about T5's and he said he was going to do some studies, hopefully he still is :)
One thing I will add, when it comes to choosing color and...
Ed,
I have seen them, they seem to be good bulbs but they are over priced. With the right bulb combination you can achieve the same results with the Giesemann's.
Out of all the T5 bulbs Faith sells ATI has had the most complaints, some of them are they go dim after a few months, usually...
From what I've heard the sure flow mod can be loud, I'm hearing the mod made by eco is better and more reliable. I don't use them so I don't have first hand experience. I do use the Koralias and Tunze 6055's. From my experience I like the Tunze 6055's the best but very costly, the Koralias are a...
Guy's the light isn't going to be at the water surface, he can put the light at 8-12" above the water line if need be. It's a 24" wide tank, that's why I recommended he get 6 bulbs, for the coverage from front to back.
Greg,
I'd go with T5's I'd recommend at least 6 bulbs a mix of Giesemann and GE's, stay away from the ATI's they are the worst and I can't believe people still recommend then. URI's are ok T5 bulbs, they better for VHO's. The best color and growth I had was with the Giesemann and GE's and...
Be patient ;D if everything is healthy it will grow and soon you'll be saying it's growing to fast ;) The only other thing you may want to consider is adding amino's once a week ;D other than that just give it time
I used the bio spira stuff in all my new tanks, I was able to add fish the next day.. As long as the rock is clean (no dead materials, seaweed and stuff)you can go that route, after adding it wait 24 hours check your parameters, if they are good then start off with a hardy fish, keep a extra bag...
When it starts to get warmer keep a eye on the tank, if your temp gets to 84 one thing you can do is shut off your MH's, also if you get a dual temp controller you can set a heater for the temp you want and use the other plug for a fan, you can set it to turn on say when your tank reaches 83 or...
My experience with those corals are they need lower light and strong flow. My polyps only come out when the room and tank are dark, after your lights go out try to keep the room as dark as possable, after a half hour or so, use a flash light to check the polyp extension. I never feed mine but 1...
A temp swing of 3-4 is better for coral than keeping a tank at a stedy temp, my tank runs 78-81, as long as your temp doesn't reach 85 or higher I wouldn't worry about it
Hi Aaron, unfortunately I don't think I'll be making it :'( We'll have to hook up one of these days, I still have a chalice for you also.
Here's the link for the mud
