    Pvc glue

Assuming you're using this on your aquarium and not the plumbing in your house.....As Bob @radiata mentioned, the purple is a code requirement to show the inspector that you've used the cleaner/primer. You can still purchase clear primer, but if you simply dope up the pipe and the fitting with...

Blue dotted jawfish jumps into overflow

Assuming this is a conventional overflow with a durso, turn off your return pump and if possible, put a net at the end of the drain pipe, and now pull out the durso. The fish will "flush" down the pipe towards your sump and end up in the net.

    Fish trap needed

Have you tried a DIY bottle trap? I've had great success, but here's the trick.........you cut a small hole in the side to fit the end of a turkey baster. Put the trap in your tank....actually leave the trap in your tank so the fish become use to it. Now fill the turkey baster with some...

What Size Return pump do i need for a 90 gal tank

Your overflow determines the size of your return pump. I have a 90 gallon with a 1500 gph overflow, and for years used a MAG 9.5. MAGs aren't good pressure pumps and the 9.5 would most likely work with a 700 gph overflow. If flow was too high you could always put a valve in line or tee off...

    Amphipods

You can try putting a "pod motel" into the 40 for a couple days and see how many move in. What has worked very good for me as a pod motel is what I call a bath scrunchy.....looks like this and cost a couple bucks. Maybe putting some flake food in the scrunchy to see if it helps draw in...

    DIY NOPOX Recipe Revealed

Never concerned about the delivery tubing....either a polyethylene, silicone, PCV, polyurethane, fluoropolymers, etc., which can easily handle ethanol and acetic acid. I was more concerned about the peristaltic pump tubing. I found out that this tubing was Santoprene tubing, which is about...

    DIY NOPOX Recipe Revealed

Joe, I still dose DIY NOPOX and actually have it set up with a dosing pump: I think what you're seeing is a bacterial bloom. Did you start slow? What is suggested for starting dosing is to start slow....reverse of their suggested dose levels. That is, start with 1ml per 25 gallons for a...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Painful? It is a true sign of your girly manhood. The doctor steps out looking like a Borg from Star Trek with the needle in his hand. Here's a picture of my doctor about ready to give me a shot in the ear drum. Those special glasses allow him to see up close so that when you go back...
