It isn't the fish (IME) that you need the clean water for. It is the corals. That's where the nitrates and the phosphates, even in nominal quantities cause you algae and poor coral health.
Of course, that depends largely on the corals. Some are FAR more tolerant of sewer style water conditions...
Stock it with COOL fish. I love my banana eel.
I also saw one of the coolest rabbitfish the other day in Bluestravlr's tank. White with blue and orange spots. Wish I could remember what it was called!

You might check with any neighbors that you have that have dogs. My neighbor (moved) used to have a sitter come any time they went on vacation. I've never used one though, since my neighbor always took care of it.
We usually have someone come in 2-3 times during the week we're away to feed the eel (prawns) and we have them feed the tanks and hang nori while they're here. We do have an auto topoff that keeps the water level while we're away. We keep a local reefer's number handy for the care taker to make...
it probably has some other vile chemical in it anyway. Our guess was to toss it. I just hate doing that with 55g of water.
