I use a diamond wheel attachment on the dremel, but for SPS if the branches are reasonably thin I'll use bone cutters to frag it. Just snap off a branch. Anything like a table or an efflo then I'd use the dremel.
I bought my ACII on eBay. Got my ACJr from someone on the boards. The equipment (even on the smaller tanks) is worth its weight for the headaches that it saves me.

I think with an NJT train you could get to Piscataway, Edison, Metro Park. We have members in these towns. Hopefully one of them would be able to make the stop and pick you up. Let us know if that's an option and we'll see what we can do!

FWIW, doing smaller, more frequent water changes is, over time, less effective than doing larger weekly/bi-weekly water changes. Over time you'll end up doing less dillution than you intended, and could otherwise accomplish with less frequent water changes.
My kids are WONDERFUL on the train! They just love to sit and watch out the window. We always take the train from Metro Park, but I have no qualms with taking my 2 into the city alone. We sit in the front of the train whenever possible. That gives us 2 seats facing each other to sit in/switch...
