    Large Amber Seahorse, male

I have a large seahorse picked up in a trade. It's a male, erectus, about 5 inches long. I don't have the means to keep him long term so am looking to rehome him. I'll trade for almost anything, livestock, inverts, etc. He's very spirited and swims around a lot and eats frozen Mysis...

Yes, I heard about Ultra Corals. It's a bit of a drive, but sounds like the place to go. Thx.

    Dinoflagellates

That can cause a bump in your cycle with a nitrate increase as the end product so that makes sense, especially if it's a smaller system.

    Dinoflagellates

It's weird happening without a rise in nitrates. Doesn't add up.

    Question on a start up

If you're cycling a brand new system, you would not run your skimmer, as Sobo suggested. You'll start it up later after you begin feeding livestock, etc.

    Cooking Rock

Please I beg, don't ever treat live rock that way. If you need to get something off it, try physically removing it first. If that doesn't work, put it though a curing process. But don't do anything to kill off the "live" part of the rock. Blasphemy IMO. (oh the pain)

I had wondered if those LED bulbs would work for a refugium. I think I even searched on reefcentral about it but there were no threads. Thx for the tip.

    Wanted PC fixture

I just lost the ballast over a fuge, and the endcaps are pretty bad, so I'm looking for a replacement. If anyone has any old power compact fixture or retrofit please PM. Thanks!! Dave

    Dinoflagellates

Something is different. Is the temperature in the system any higher than usual? Or did you replace any bulbs? Just a few off the tops possibilities.

    Plumbing question now

I can't really picture the situation, but I would only add to use a slip fitting for the 90, but have threaded connects on both the valve and union.
