Yes, mix it all together and it will stay together and not separate.....a simple solution. And yes, you can use a dosing pump.

    No Nitrates... is this bad?

My recommendation is to have a local reefer friend test your water....or take a sample to your LFS. With that fish load, including a tang, and using Reef Roids, I'd expect to see N's and P's.

    No Nitrates... is this bad?

How old is the tank? What fish do you have? What do you feed....how much...how often? What test kit are you using for nitrate? I'd also put the brick back in your sump......that's were the bacteria lives that converts ammonia to nitrate.

    Remove Uneaten Food...Really?

This instruction is a joke for a reef tank!!! I've got to believe this is for true newbies who just purchased or won their very first fish and have it in a little bowl.

Biopellet Reactor - Who Would Have Known

Vodka dosing, which falls under what is collectively termed "carbon dosing," is where you dose vodka to your tank as a food source for bacteria. The bacteria "eat" the vodka, grow and multiply, and in the process consume nitrates and phosphates. These fat bacteria then get removed from your...

    Carbon dosing/Biopellets

Assuming you follow directions, it's safe. You need to monitor N's and P's. And regardless of the method of carbon dosing/biopellets, you need to have a skimmer. If there is an imbalance in the ration of N's and P's, bacteria will stop multiplying, so you might need to adjust levels to...

Too Many Breakdowns - Vent Thread

That darn auto correct! It's caught me a couple times....I like powerhead becomes showerhead. Anyway, it's pretty much a wood shop now.....large tools include a drill press, radial arm saw, two band saws, a jointer planer, a router table and a compound miter saw. Use to have a four foot...

Too Many Breakdowns - Vent Thread

Thanks, but it's call life. The ability to handle lumps and bumps along the road of life is the difference between success and failure. I'm working on success. :D Oh crap, I'm getting too philosophical.....time to go to bed.

Too Many Breakdowns - Vent Thread

On Valentine's Day, I went shopping with my sweetie for a new motor. I've had a number of breakdowns in the tank this past month, and to top it off, the motor on my bandsaw died.....no big deal, I think I have a spare motor for that somewhere (and I haven't looked because I have a second...

    Scratching my head

Yet another thought......Enter - Exit location for this spurred off frag tank Where are the plumbing locations for the pickup of water and the exit of water from this frag tank? Could it be, if too close together, it's just circulating the water, and not "refreshing" it?

BRS canisters have one sponge fused to the bottom portion (the piece you unscrew), and a second unattached sponge that goes at the top.
