Need to treat with praziquantel/Prazipro. If one fish has flukes, likelihood is all have flukes. This can be dosed directly into the DT.....no need to QT. Follow directions.
I see it now in your signiture....65 gallons....yep, 36 wide. That 300W Mars Aqua would still work. That 24 inch deep, you'll need at least 90 degree lens.....and the Mars Aqua comes with lenses.
One watt LED's have poor penetration. This might work as a refugium light, but not even close for what I believe is your 60 gallon DT...if standard, four feet long, and deep. Maybe if you ran a FOWLR with 3 or 4 of these it would work, but not for coral.
The 300W Mars Aqua is a quality low...
Mark, just keep an eye on your nitrates and phosphates. Those mirco-foods have a tendency to spike N's and P's. I know that was the case when I had tried Reef-Roids.
Actually refractometers are very reliable pieces of equipment. However there are things that can give you erroneous results. Two that immediately came to mind are:
1. Consistant wavelength of light to read the refractometer. Different wavelenghts of light (different light sources) will...
When you are measuring salinity of new water, is it heated up to tank temperature? If it's still cold, you'll see a higher salinity number compared to when you heat it up to tank temperature.
After switching out my ATO from an AquaHub to a JBJ, the reed switch on this float switch has a hair trigger. That is, it runs about every ten minutes for maybe 10 to 15 seconds. It was too frequently and running for too short a time. I thought of how to trick the ATO by slowing the...
I think it was Drs. Foster and Smith that had you identify three of six pictures that had a particular look. As example, one was pick the three pictures that show rivers....another was pick three store fronts.
Is there something we can do about all the spam we're getting. It seems like it's gotten a whole lot worse. Can we use captcha, or ask the question, "Are you a Robot," or have a couple day waiting period after signing up before you can make your first post. There's got to be something.
The original recommended dose was 150 mg / 30 liters. This calculates out to 18.9 mg / gallon. Most posts I've seen, folks have simply rounded this out to 20 mg / gallon. If that 120 is the estimation of your total volume, your dose is a little light. If that 120 is the size of the tank...
You really don't want to cut baffles using a jig saw. You really can't get straight and square cuts using one. I have a 12 inch chop saw with a carbide blade that will cut acrylic. Also have an 8 inch table saw but the blade is not carbide. Not sure how well that would cut acrylic. I...
Simply supply and demand....first rule of basic economics.
A whole lot of folks have ordered this over on R2R and it was mentioned the price was going up. These folks are just taking advantage.
With @art13 being the first NJRC member to use Fluconazole to treat Bryopsis, I just bit the bullet and placed my order for 20 pills. I thought I had hair algae, but some have said, because the hair appears to be on branches, that it's a variety of bryopsis. We'll find out!
Strongly agree with Mark.....fix the problem.
Start by a thorough cleaning of the pump. If that doesn't work, buy a new pump and you virtually have a new skimmer. It should only be a couple more bucks over that 30 you have now.
This hobby isn't cheap....consider a part time job to support...
