Don't know what my relatively newbie view is worth... but I say to each their own, it looks nothing like my tank which is exactly why I LOVE LOVE LOVE it... no honestly, can I PLEASE beg you to come over and help me aquascape once I figure out what I'm doing with my mess of a 50g? When I imagine...
You know you think about reefing to much (and aren't getting enough sleep) when...
You are in your kitchen stumbling around to make coffee and glance at the toaster oven, which wasn't cleaned well after it's last use and has some sort of crumbs on the front glass... but the first thing that...
I also have an aquac (the HOB style remora since I have a acrylic tank and no sump etc) and I'm happy with it as well.. although when I just really cleaned it out I'm getting a TON of very very wet skim where before it was always very dry.
LOL thanks everyone :D
Mike: we're "bigger" dog type people, although I do think poms are cute... however my last dog was a rottie, I adored her and some day when Aliya is a teenager I'll have another, but for me our 55lb shepard mix seems small... so a boxer seems about the right...
We've been considering a 2nd dog (we have a 2 yr old female rescue shepard mix however she has a genetic problem and very bad arthritus/hips and can't go for the long walks I envisioned etc) and I've always loved boxers... was wondering if anyone here breeds them or if someone knows of a nice...
You know I think you're right... which was my concern in the first place with it (I posted on the anemone forum of RC also)... I know its eating enough but I think it needs more light... however I can't figure out why it's not moving closer to the light instead of just stretching, although it...
Thank you David, I'll keep your offer in mind once I decide exactally what I want to do... as for Ginger (gsm) and her anemone, I think I'm most likely going to part with them... I have a feeling she'd crawl right back where she is, I tried this past week to move the rock she is on down and she...
I see your point with the LR when it's in smaller pieces, I already have to many hiding places though... I miss my puffer LOL and I agree it could be very cool to create structures with it (I actually did that with lava rock for a freshwater hex tank I had once... was very cool and the fish...
LOL thanks, I can't stand how it looks though ;)
As for photos, I can try some tonight... my camera is a cheap old kodak digital and as you can tell takes awful photos. Here's a couple of the anem & gsm from just before christmas and last week... the thing is out of control
Long story short, this was never going to be a reef... but things happen and here it is. 50g seaclear acrylic (ie covered in algea & impossible to remove w/o scratching) tank. It doesn't look like I take care of it but I do use RO/DI and 10g water changes a week, all specs in order, inhabitants...
I'm with Matt.... not one for the actual water (especiallly since I'd have my 3 yr old with me) but I'd love to come out and see what you get... l'll sign up as cookie / drink passer-outer LOL
I absolutely think it's a pistol shrimp, especially since you said it clicks... awesome find. Set up a little nano on your desk w/ a shrimp goby and him... Walmart has those 5g marineland (not called marineland on box but it's all made by them) for under $40 I think. Stock lighting isn't fit for...
Thanks for the info and best of luck to you as well. I also added some chromis & a 6 line last week... so far I haven't seen them eating the fw (when I blew some off a rock a couple chromis ate one or two but then would just spit them out). I have a 6 line in my aquapod that I have seen eat fw's...
Thanks guys... I guess my big fear is that I just read on reefcentral about someone using FWE and supposedly doing everything correctly but having massive loss as they said they must have had far more flatworms hiding in the rocks then they guessed... although they mentioned...
Hi everyone!
I'm hopeful someone can give me some advice. Besides my 24g aquapod which I couldn't be happier with and have 0 issues I also have a 50g reef.
It started out as a freshwater tank for my green spotted puffer, slowly increasing salinity each week until after over a year he was full...
should note that for us in NJ ground at only $6 IS overnight :D
I ordered a few fish from him last week, and although my total was only $30 he was super helpful and responded almost immediately to emails etc... my fish arrived expertly packed and acclimated great... very healthy and I'm super...
I think you're cutting it in 1/2, then putting the top half upside down back together/inside the bottom half... so your fish has to swim in the big hole through the small hole to get the food... and then can't figure out how to get back out... right?
LOL love it... actually I did notice some of the zoos in there looking awful... guess maybe I'll start putting more effort into pulling them when I see them, does anyone know if the reproduce quickly?
yours is probably smarter then mine, or your rock might not be moveable but whenever I"m moving stuff around and move the rock with her anemone on it my gsm tries to just stay in the anemone... she's so busy trying to stay in it I think (never tried) I could net her while pulling the anemone in...
I say watch them... I had heard they eat corals so I religiously pulled any I saw out of my aquapod... when my 50g went reef I got LR that must have been full of them because they were suddenly everwhere in there... I have some perfect stars, some with different length legs, and some that are...
