I got into the hobby with an aquapod 24g, I LOVE IT! Of course I loved it so much I decided to try to go reef with my FOWLR 50g (acrylic, not RR, no sump/fuge... ugh LOL) I know alot of people don't like the all in one's however I think it's great, a real nice way for a novice w/o much time to...
Do you have long stainless steel tweezers? You can get them cheap on ebay (I bought a set of three 8" 10" and 12") I'm forever using them in my tanks to reach and grab stuff.. .might work to get your zoas.
I think pretty much any gel glue is fine, loclite (sp?) is commonly recommended... I also use the target brand w/o any issues. For shrooms... they can take more then you'd think. Alot of people sew them onto a rock (using plain thread or even thin fishing line, once they've attached you can just...
I don't covet shoes or try to sneak expensive handbags w/o my husband knowing... it's fish & corals for me LOL
Welcome to the addiction! Soon you'll realize that everything you want won't fit or work in one tank... and then comes the next ;)
totally evil looking little guy, I'll try to get some photos but my camera is oldschool digital and awful at closeups. I can't figure out what type he is, but all I can find on the internet is that red eye crabs are not only bad but very poisonous as well. Maybe the worm will try to eat him and...
If you saw my earlier post today you know that I found a sinister looking little crab with red eyes and white racing stripes in my nano tank today... never saw him before and haven't added anything new in ages. Needless to say when I saw him again in the afternoon I knew I better make an effort...
Anyone here see the online cartoon thing that Honda (I think it was Honda) put together with the crab... "i pinch"
anyways that's what this reminded me of (sorry once again coffee hasn't kicked in yet LO
I come down and do my morning check of my tanks... I see my emerald crab (or so I think)...
To far for a worm pickup I'm afraid LOL I'm in Port Monmouth (about an hour from you)
He's still in his rock, might attempt to get him out this weekend.
I'm just wondering where you got your clown, I really want another black & white perc. once I sell my GSM.
As for hosting I've seen percs use all sorts of things, the one in my 24g hosts a neon green toadstool 95% of the time and a very large hairy mushroom 5%.... before I got her she was...
Thanks Tom, I was actually thinking about that last night (stacking a couple inside eachother for extra support) I don't think I bought the heavy duty ones when we moved but had no problem putting in my rock and good deal of water for the move, they were in there 24 hours and no issues... I'll...
I'll be sure to keep all of your wonderful ideas in mind if/when I catch him... and will promptly bag him up for whomever wants to start that worm/bait farm LOL
wow, now that sounds like it was alot of work LOL
My wannabe reef 50g doesn't even have a sump/refug etc (its acrylic and I'm to afraid to even think of drilling and my skimmer takes up most of the small amount of space I have to work with HOB things). For the price I'd probably just be better...
Hmm.. any recommendations on a cheap container that would hold at least 40g? Does rubbermaid make a heavy duty container that might work (I know I use their rolling trashcans for mixing my sw, but the most I ever put was 25g and that was only for a night or two). Not even sure I'll try this (the...
Hope the subject wasn't confusing. As I've posted recently I'm not happy with my 50g... from the stand/canopy, to the LR, scratches on the acrylic, crushed coral etc. However a new anything other then some rock is out of the question so I have to work with what I have.
I've been planning to...
LOL Mike, maybe? Although I think "wormy" could easily eat Wasabi... anyone familiar with that episode of Sponge Bob where Sandy is going off to fight the worm that is terrorizing bikini bottom? It reminds me of that (and yes I'm an adult woman referencing sponge bob, I have a 3yr old and a...
LOL
honestly though, I know it's silly to be afraid of something in your tank... but whenever I see the darn thing I about jump.
I'll attempt to get him out this weekend most likley, finally got some gloves that fit me and I must attempt to remove the algea while not scratching my whole tank...
awesome, sounds good as well.
for those who are of the "leave him" mentality... anyone want this critter if/when I get him out? Figure no matter what I try I'll have another container of tank water I can toss him in where he should stay alive awhile if someone wanted to get him :)
Thanks for the ideas, and the warning... two is definitely what I don't want LOL maybe I can pull the rock into a rubbermaid and try blasting some FW in the hole or doing a FW dip.
normal sized ones are good scavengers, but I have plenty of those and hermits as well (not even enough for them to...
I know the majority of reefers say to let bristleworms be, that they fit a niche in our tanks and don't cause any issues. For the most part I say live and let live, with the exception of what my 6 lines catch and make no attempt to rid my tanks of them.
Until now.
I have a monster in my tank...
