turning brown is a sign of diatoms and the bubbles i beleive are trapped inorganics or nitrates, but i'm not an expert so i could be wrong either way it's not good. the diatoms at this point are the least of your worries. I would remove the rock to be on the safe side

I agree with Bill, Something about a bare bottom tank that doesn't look natural to me, but it's all about personal preference. Good luck with it.

Just an update after some serious complaining i had a new sump rebuilt. The first one was built incorrectly. this past weekend i finally had time to actually put my new tank together. I am using spaflex tubing (flexible PVC) very easy to use and pretty flexible. I ran into a problem with my new...
I'm guessing you don't mean spaflex when you say flex tubing. because the spaflex will not fit over any nipple adapters and it will need to be hard plumbed like hard PVC. The plastic clamps should be ok if the tube is tight on the bulkhead, if not you will have to use the stainless one's they...
I don't think it an issue IMO, it doesn't seem that hard to include your location when trying to sell anything and I think IMO 99% of people do. I understand that it's easy to make a mistake were all human after all and we all make mistakes, but i don't think including a location is that big a...
Sounds a little high to be but it's all relative and it depends on how big the hammer coral is. the fish you purchased are pretty common and not overly expensive probably in the $30 range. You would save money by buying frags from fellow reefers and save corals from being taken from the wild...
My store of choice is Aquatic obsessions. they are very reasobably priced and very friendly. I have ordered invests from saltwaterfish.com, but i have never ordered fish online. I like seeing what i'm buying and seeing them eat.

I would treat the fish in a QT with either Hyposalinity or Copper. Those are the only two scientifically proven methods known to cure Ich. Garlic is a good therapeutic but there is no conclusive scientific proof that it works, but it doesn't hurt to offer it to your fish to help boost their...
I'm going to the Florida keys in 2 weeks for 6 days on a fishing trip. We usually go in October so this is different. I'm looking forward to the new species available. Hopefully some Sailfish, Wahoo and Marlin will be around. catching a 300lb bull shark last year was awesome. strictly catch and...
thanks for all the responses, i did some research and found that the minimum size for about 1200gph is a 1.5" bulkhead. I will most likely be at that or fairly close to that with a 1750gph pump. So i think i will be enlarging the hole to accomidate a 2" bulkhead. and i will be using a wye as...
