Hello all,
My new sump has a 1 1/2" bulkhead for the drain into my sump. The problem i am running into is that i have 2 1" drain lines and i think it will decrees the flow of the drains and build back pressure in the lines by having both 1" lines drain into the 1.5". I would maybe like to...
Boy does that suck. Maybe you need to acclimate longer, i Drip mine for 1.5 hours slowly before anything goes in my tank. But i would also double check your water parameters

I have a 40 gallon as my QT, i have a heater, power head and a HOB filter, and the only thing in the tank it a piece or 2 or PVC for the fish to hide. I use T5's as lighting, because i do also QT corals. IMO the bigger QT you have the better of the fish in it will be
thanks

I've used the oven before but never the microwave. I might just have to try it. Does the microwave kill things dead like the oven. I normally let it cook for 1 hour at 400 degrees in the oven.

Hey all,
My sump has a 1.5" drain inlet and my tank has 2 1" drain lines. In hindsight i should have had 2 1" bulkheads installed but that's another story. Now to my dilemma, If i connect the 2 drain lines to the 1.5" bulkhead will i have any back pressure issues? I was going to T it off and...
Well i picked up my replacement sump last week and it is 100% better then the last one that they built for me. It was built to my exact specifications and the seams are much much nicer then the last ones. I will post picks of it in my build thread later on today or tomorrow as i will start...
I've been in your situation, so i completely understand. I lost about $400 worth of fish. I never place anything in my display until it goes thru QT for a minimum of 6 weeks. Generally speaking the only places that guarantee fish are online vendors. They have to do something to make up for the...
18 months is definately too old for MH bulbs. I think a lot of people like the phoenix 14K. that would be my choice. But definately more people will chime in with their different experiences

T5's are definately better then CF IMO. they run cooler and last longer then CF bulbs. Also The difference between T5's and T6's is bulb size. T5's have a smaller bulb diameter wise

I actually bought a parrot from him about 8 years ago. He's ok personality wise. I thought he was kinda standoffish to be honest. When i was there i didn't see anything fish tank related. And he is pretty expensive IMO. But if you need a bird vet he's the one to go to.

i removed all my rocks and will be cooking them in the oven tomorrow to kill all my bubble algae. Once it takes over it's almost impossible to get rid of.

Patience. patience, patience. I would start with something easy like Zoas, or mushrooms. Anemone's aren't the easiest to care for and should in most cases be left to experienced reefers but that just my opinion.

A skimmer while curing removes a lot of disolved organics and helps reduce the ammonia build up. And i do believe it might even speed up the curing process a little.
thanks

I just learned something new about red bugs and fallow period. awesome. I have to make a mental note of that. Good luck mike. I hope it all works out for ya
boy sea hares sure are ugly, but they do get the job done. I've never seen eggs like that before. I'm guessing the sea hare left them?? they are pretty cool looking. It's amazing what you will find in a saltwater tank. I'm always amazed

not a bad idea then. But i do think you should be ok with just the euro reef as long as you don't overstock your tank. But adding the 2nd skimmer isnt a bad idea either
