His main theory (and it is just a theory) is that DSB are the cause of nitrates.
Such a generalization for all tanks is flawed. You and I both know the vast majority of people overstock their tanks. Furthermore people also place a DSB in an area/volume that is entirely too small and then throw...
the design has got holes in a rack in the sump for what looked like 9 or 12 filter socks. I hope his washing machine isn't occupied with laundry...lol.
Anyways - when the builder makes a statement that 200 micron is required for saltwater - it makes me cringe to think whether or not the person...
Interesting filtration scheme:
Two 10000 GPH pumps return into tank, one goes thru UV and into left corner return and other goes thru ULTIMA and into the right corner return. The third pump is 8000 GPH amd is only for the skimmer system it returns into the sump. Bio-tower and chiller have has...
i agree...and then you add in the fact that he has a horde algae-eating tangs...with nothing to pick at. I'd love to seen at least ONE panther grouper and a clarion angel and a big fat eel...
Anyways a 90 colt and a 92 T&C will get you a 4000 gallon tank. You just have to throw in the 2nd...
that is a teeny tiny one! Sure does look like a chiton.
oh and redfish - no apologize necessary. Cool manipulation of that photo. Glad we were able to solve the mystery together!
yep - nice picture!
I haven't seen my cuke since friday. Plus I traded in some LR so it's possible I traded my cuke away too. oh well. My tank is not mature but I wanted to change a cuke since they are supposedly ideal sand cleaners.
So...I am honestly not sure.
I can say that context is important. I've never seen a limpet (at least the keyhole type) run or move away from me. They just lock down and say "just try and move me". And basically you can't without crushing it.
On the other hand, a chiton will hustle fast into...
Well finally after wanting to go to stan's - I finally felt like my tank could actually support a coral. A lot of times expectations exceed the actual product - but in this case, that was totally not the case. A kid in a coral candy store is an apt description. Stan is fantastic. I learned a lot...
Second vote here for chiton...though it is hard to tell based on your pic.
Chitons are extremely slow growing and they are usually found under the sandbed/LR. I've seen them come up at night on the glass or LR to eat. Great hitchhiking part of the cleanup crew.
it sounds like the acumulated proteins on the surface of your water are not breaking up via a skimmer or overflow. you need to consider adding another pump and aiming it at the surface to break it up. Or just do more frequent water changes targeting the surface.
i forgot to mention if you don't have the room and you need a pump in-sump - then you could use an mag12. With head loss it won't push the full 1200 gph your overflows can handle - but i'm not a fan of maximizing flow via the sump anyway. Just realize that I've found mags to generate some heat...
So the cuke i have via the group buy- spent all of one day on the sand and then disappeared on me....then suddenly reappeared last night...on top of my LR structure - like in the middle of the tank. What's up with that?
The guy has been seemingly useless for my sandbed.
On the other hand the...
