what does "all kinds of food" mean? Are you dosing live phyto?

john - remove the dead parts. It's possible the worm can re-grow the crown. Are you feeding the duster? they need food to keep that crown.

how about just taking a cloth/sponge with vinegar/water and wiping down the fixture to see if it can still be used? Then i'd swap out the bulb that dimmed.

Any idea what your TDS is coming out of the RODI? Might help to know. Not to get into an argument over tap water users - but this may be a source of some of the nutrients in the tank. What kind of fish do you have in your 75?

they are tough to keep without a bit of supplemental feeding. I know the shedding of the crown is not a good sign. I imagine if it pops out of the tube to also be a bad sign - but I have zero experience with feather dusters. Good luck.
