    cabj1970's old 55G is my new 55G

maybe try increasing the flow in that area? what do you have in your cleanup crew? Also - might want to cut down on feeding. Most of the fish in our tanks dies from obesity - never starvation.

My DIY Sump,.New K-2 Skimmer and WM MR-100 up and Running

You should have a sticker on the tank that says "WM Approved". ;D what an amazing tank - what gigantor sized tang is that? Holy cow that thing probably sneers at the two yellows and pbt.

Medusa worm chopped up in powerhead!!!

I just read this article and found this section (yes to carbon and yes to skimming and yes to water changes!) In the most general terms, virtually any soft-bodied animal that would make easy prey on a coral reef, such as these sea cucumbers, will typically be defended in some way by distasteful...

Giant Sea Worm Found In British Aquarium

oregonreef. The vast majority of reefers break down their tanks long before a bristle worm can get to any formidible size. If you feel you have too many then either cut down the feeding or just drop a trap in to get them out.

please watch to save the hobby

why? If our hobby is in danger then everyone that owns a dog or cat is also at risk IN GENERAL- The Secretary shall include in the preliminary list under this section nonnative wildlife species that the Secretary finds, consistent with the factors described in section 3(b) and based on...

please watch to save the hobby

I don't think that is correct - the guy is trying insinuate an angel fish would go on the list? If I read the text on the bill - that would not happen. SEC. 4. LIST OF APPROVED SPECIES. (a) Requirement To Issue List of Approved Species- (1) IN GENERAL- Not later than 36 months after the...

    Help Sandstorm !!!!

take it all out and go BB in the hob fuge. Such a small size is not goign to provide any nitrate reduction - and will be a trap for detritus. That's my opinion. I did the LS in a hob fuge and it just became a cyanobacteria farm. Trust me - don't go there. Just put chaeto and then once a week...

Anyone have a REALLLLYYYYY big tank who wants a cool fish?

Wow - I was reading an old TFH from 2006 and how coincidental that the article was on giant groupers. Anyways - they are listed as vulnerable.... http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/7858 What a monster fish!

Ever feel like giving up before it's even up and running?

mike - you're going to think i'm crazy - but i love to tinker/plot things out and the planning phase of my 120 was a lot of fun. Mind you it wasn't smooth for me (two bulkheads improperly set up...yikes!) and countless floods. Also it's not like people set up these gorgeous tanks...

    looking for ID

completely harmless in my opinion. I've had really big tunicates come in on gulf-of-mexico LR. They are filter feeders and if you are not dosing your tank - it's highly unlikely they were be "invasive". I probably shouldn't have used the word "colonial". If they die though - best to remove the...
