Tank flood save, Redundancy is great!

I think "Smart" moreso than just luck was on your side tonight, my friend! That downstairs neighbor of yours must be something to fear with as redundant as you made that stand for withstanding a flood. Good job. Great to see your plan worked! Ya hate to have to test those backup systems, but...

    Green Star Polyp Not Opening

It is depleted along with other nutrients in your tank. I bought my Mag suppliment from the same company that makes b-ionic 2 part.

    Green Star Polyp Not Opening

You want that mag number closer to 1300. Give that a try and see if they don't open back up again. If you can't blow the dust off of the GSP then a light swipe with the toothbrush shouldn't make things worse. I wouldn't be too rough.

    Green Star Polyp Not Opening

What is your Magnesium? Our Red star polyps tend to "go away" when the mag is low.

Dan, You should be able to pick your carbon up then. I think it was working its way to Bill Lange, if I'm not mistaken. Brian can pick it up and bring it down with him. If anyone else from the North wants to pick their carbon up then should warn me well in advance so that I can arrange to have...

How about some shirts for the club.

I know I promised you a logo for pricing purposes. We don't have appropriate copy, I don't think for this. We need to come up with something. There's a lot on our plate with distributing carbon & lighting right now and the group buy for inverts is fast approaching. We haven't forgotten, just...

    Will corals be okay?

If you post test results and the types of corals you plan on introducing we'll have a better idea of the answer.

    June Meeting

Ralph, Great. Glad to see you'll be coming and bringing the crew. The rice dish your wife brought to Steve's was great. If she wants to do that again that would be wonderful!

    xenia

Xenia tends to melt if it isn't happy in an environment. They are a fussy coral and do GREAT in some tanks and melt away never to be seen again in others. If everything else looks good and your Ammo/Nitrite/Nitrate/Phosphate numbers are in line you fall into the latter category. Otherwise start...

    recent topic page

We're in the process of updating the BBS software. A process that is taking a bit longer than we expected. Hopefully the new version of the BBS software will accomodate something like that, though I don't recall seeing it. We can certainly put it on a list of nice to haves though.

    May Meeting

Rich, Thanks for hosting our May meeting. The food was plentiful (to say the least) and delicious! Lots of (brand name) soda and adult beverages to be had and excellent work getting Dr. Mac up to present for us. It was interesting listening to him talk about his trip. Superman, anyone?! Just...

Great Ham. My finders fee is 50%. You can leave it under the mat. Thanks!

How big should my clean up crew be?

A lot of that is personal preference. I like to buy 1 Astrea/Turbo per gallon and one nassarius per 4g. I like one BLH per 4-5g as well. Throw in some Red leg hermits to round it out. But that's just my preference. You'll know by the algae in your tank. If rocks start getting fuzzy you need more...

    Gbta and my confused clowns

I don't know why it seems to work. I just know that lots of people have tried it and while nothing is guaranteed, it does seem to lead to the desired outcome! And don't go doing things just because Phyl does it! LOL! I'm still learning lots myself.

    Gbta and my confused clowns

Yup. Aeroblnde did it and it worked within 5m. One helluva coincidence if that is what it was. Certainly worth trying. Find a clown pictured that is as close as possible to the one you have.
