Re: AGA 120 (very few pictures and lots of dull writing)
A Ricwillli sighting! Thanks for coming by my thread! Please do drop off the tv while you are here. ;D ;D
Thanks for the tip - yes that is definitely on my list of "to-dos".
My update for today - the used ORCA skimmer from NACLH20...
Anyone else recall the Seinfeld episode where they had this? Anyways -today's the day (at least as depicted on seinfeld).
So if you celebrate it - I hope your airing of grievances is done in a righteous way. Please do NOT post them here. ;D
if that's the case and your budget allows for it - I'd look to move the two pieces of lighting and get one piece that you want to have - whether that is 250wMH or 400wMh or just a bank of T5s.
when I used "dry" sand - it took a while for the cloudiness to disappear. With the 'live' sand I got from AO - it took maybe an hour for it to clear up.
As for shells - exactly what matt said - it depends on what type you get. The sand with shell is helpful for species that are diggers that...
i wouldn't get rid of the damsels. I'd just add a tougher fish to the mix. A trigger will hold it's own against those damsels. Or go for an angel.
Whatever happened to the tank at school? did that ever get going?
May I ask a stupid question?
Why do you want to have MH, PC, and T5 lighting on the tank?
Besides the added complexity of replacing all those bulbs and plugs, timers etc. - I would just imagine it to look rather awkward - unless it's all hidden in a canopy.
Why not just go MH/T5? or pure T5?
yup - I dropped my tunze magnet in the sand and voila - fuzzy magnet.
The iron particles in the sand are fine per dr. ron shimek...who I consider to be a good source. That stated, I'd avoid dropping your mag-float in there as reeflections mentioned. Here's his specific reply to me that I...
welcome ron - I'll be tagging along to see how your tank goes. It's a great reason to build a tank and hopefully we can help you avoid all the common pitfalls everyone else goes thru.
If you haven't purchased equipment for your nano (test kits, food, etc.) - you could join our group buy with...
You're off by only 10 inches. ;D

They are not pseudochromis at all - completely different family.
Serranus tortugarum is from the western atlantic and is (like threadfin/glass cardinalfish) one of the few shoaling species.
I actually converted my 6100s back to 6000s to avoid the sandstorms. I'd have like one corner of the tank with no sand and right next to it a 6 inch mound. ;D
I figure once I get corals going and the tank gets more crowded - I'll switch the hockey pucks out and make them back into 6100s.
I was under the impression that the higher the team - the more water the air can hold. Therefore conversely - the lower the temp - the less amount of water can be held. I'm just wondering if you kept your temp higher upstairs - wouldn't the relative humidity drop down to a more manageable 53%...
