in terms of the fug - I think you want it not too fast as you want a chance for the pods and such to reproduce. But you also don't want it too slow so that cyano gets a chance to grow. This was a pet peeve of mine with the hob refugiums - I always felt the pump was underpowered.

I did find the DI bypass - but that was on the closed position.
But reading page 3 of the instructions (duh) - I found what I was looking for:
"4. it is normal for the DI cartridge not to fill with water. Some have only an inch of water in the sump. This has no impact on the water...

I agree - the aqua C is probably one of the favorites in terms of hang on the back skimmers.

A slow build is the way to go!! nothing good in this hobby comes fast...and anything good - takes time. I'm sure I am mis-quoting that but I recall reading that in Bob Fenner's book. Is your bro or dad going to be also involved in the tank? If so - you could get a family...

yep already drilled. I read to put in a small one first and if there is still a gurgling sounds to increase the size of the hole (or put an airline in). I'm totally new at this so we shall see when water is added....(fingers crossed).
