Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
not me - but can you elaborate on the media that would be in the reactor? I'll be honest I have a hard time reading threads on zeo since they sometimes degrade into flaming wars about who's right and wrong and what not. So I'm hoping you could educate the ignorant here. :)
you're making my procrastinating err...patient pace look glacial compared to your speed. Looks great! Maybe get a can of black paint and coat the entire stand. Even better maybe put a pair of doors on it.
ugh - sorry to hear about this.
For the free-swimming critters - a uv setup might knock out some of them - but i'm not sure i'd want to drop money on an in-line uv set up just for this issue.
For the ones that sink to the bottom - i'd siphon as much as i could. Unfortunately you're not going...
lol bill it's not real...that's an architect's drawing/envisioning of it. I guess they didn't allow a photog to snap a real pic of the tank. The place isn't open yet.
is it possible to bait a box near the water line with one of your corals?
I know it sounds ridiculous but i had a maroon clown that insisted on trying to force this coral to host her and the quickest way to catch her was to place the coral in a box near the top. Sure enough she went right in.
how big is it?
you could try placing pieces of bait/food in the bottle-trap in front of whatever LR the pistol is hiding in.
Personally I was never good with the bottle traps but I was good at taking the tbs rock out, placing that piece (with the pistol) in a bucket and blasting the "home"...
I personally would do this so that the cyano does not grow anymore. Chaeto has a tendency to die out on the bottom of the "ball" so adding the powerhead would allow it to tumble and get light all throughout.
Is the fug getting water direct from the display? if possible i'd plumb it so that it's...
how did you set up the dj panel like that - is it sitting on plywood or did you just nail it directly into the stand?
I know one guy (i forget his handle) placed 3/8" blocks - nailed that to teh stand, and then nailed the panel to the blocks. But it looks like your set up is different?
at that depth - your talking pure aesthetics - which is fine. If you wanted a deep sand bed for additional nitrate reduction you'd need probably 4" minimum. Below that - I'd just keep enough to keep any sand-dwelling critters happy and to avoid the sand getting swirled around by the pumps.
btw...
i know it may not be the best scenario but you could sell the skimmer to get something that is more conducive for you.
or even just something that would fit.
gorgeous. I think the last time I was there was back in 2000 when I had to attend a wedding (not in the aquarium). Only thing that I didn't like was the traffic getting there. :(
I think you could add more pics to this thread - it's great!
thanks everyone...!
oh and wendy - my kids have learned an addendum to that song...it goes like this
"are ya one?"
"are ya two?"
"are ya three?"
I think the metuchen kindergarten teacher wanted to teach them number skills - but they only count up to 5,6 (rarely) 7. They stopped at 7 for me...
a nighttime hitcher that typically can be found in LS and on Live rock is the chiton. I don't know if that is what it eating your coralline- but it's possible. keyhole limpets have as similar rasping mouth.
thanks mike! i was thinking it would slip by in only 8 more hrs! ;)
thanks momof6...thanks! My kids wanted to celebrate with a carvel fudgie the whale ice cream cake. I wonder when the my bdays became events for them rather than for me. That never happened with you right? 8)
