Maybe something was picking at it. If the other acans are doing fine and you moved it to a new location, than there is not much you can do. Try spot feeding it for a few days to see what happens.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with a reactor. The water is forced to go through the media with a reactor. With a media bag, the water tends to take the path of least resistance which is around the bag not making it affective enough.

You should try to find someone that is running one. Most LFS do not run skimmers that they sell. You should not hesitate buying from Premium Aquatics as they have a good return policy.
