I was thinking of starting a build thread today and I was trying to decide weather I should post my ideas in this thread or in the "Tale of the Tank" thread. I can see where a person might want to keep all of the information/help that they acquire in there build thread. This is going to be tricky.
The Alpha 250 is a beast compare to the ATB skimmer that I had. The only problem that I have is that I'm waiting for my basement to get redone so that I can set up my 210. The Alpha does not fit in my current sump. I might rig something up just to try it on my 90. I know its way overkill but who...
Hey Mike, I know I offered to help but I take my daughter to gymnastics on Saturday mornings. I than have to pick up the family to head to the meeting. Sorry.
I know people that keep RBTA under PC's and are doing well and growing.
Well it all come down to what you like and what you are upgrading too. If you want the shimmer than get MH. If you want less heat than get T5's. I have the Aquactinics Contallation with 14 T5 bulbs that I will be putting...
I apologize Buffalowing for giving wrong info.
I'm going to have to stay away from this thread. I thought you were doing a 75 gallon but its running freshwater fish (that is strike two). I was at work when posting. Trying to read, post and work at the same time is not working.
Welcome

2. I'm choosing this light so that I have the option to keep whatever I'd like, I'm starting w/ easy stuff, but I keep reading how addicting this hobby is &...
Soak a paper towel with warm water and vinegar and place it on the stubborn spot for a 2-3 minutes, than try scraping it. When I clean tanks, I usually do it by hand with a razor blade. Doing it by hand will give you better angle positions to scrape the coraline.
I'm actually using an AquaC Remora skimmer and I was able to get a hold of the surface skimmer box. I'm going to give this a try.
Thats why I love this forum. Theres always someone here to lend a hand....... THANKS EVERYONE!!!
If so, how are you keeping the top of the water clean. I have a 40 breeder as a temporary holding tank and the top of the water gets a thick film of crap on it. I use a cup to remove it when I do water changes. To much of a hassle and I really don't want to add a sump.
Arvind, the best thing to do is get a cup or two off the top layer of the sand bed. Keep it in DT water. Remove the DSB and clean it really good. Put the sand back when you are ready and spread the sand that you have in the cup on top of the washed/clean sand. Your DSB will be full of life in no...
