***We should always make sure the species is not endangered***
Wild caught Bangaii for example have a pretty lousy survival rate. If by buying a fish that will not live but is constantly imported we are doing harm then by promoting further collection.
I am chicken for the most part so while...
I think two tangs is OK.
My suggestions for you are kole, convict, tomini, atlantic blue(think hardier then hippo and better disposition then yellow). Of course there are some others that I don't know about like the lavender or mimics that might work. I suppose you can make others work but the...
http://www.nano-reef.com/ is another site.
Sorry I was sort of slow responding (sure you missed me :P)
I had a 24G AP, wouldn't say it was the totally best nano but was pretty decent.
I think if I had it to do again I might go for a 30G cube, just for the skimmer/sump option. All the nano...
How much did you feed them? Those colonies use up the whole bag? I try to feed them once in a while, I end up rotating which organism gets feed. With the mysis I go with the shotgun approach, which is more or less random except I noticed the bubble is right in a feeding current which makes it...
Hey thanks for all the pics :), I think almost everyone has to figure out how to "dial" in their sumps.
I am using one Mag 12 on mine. (120 4x2x2ft) My problems were a few actually. First I used flexible tubing for the overflows so with a bend in the tubing it would "flush", I don't know if it...
Nice setup for sure. The gargling/flushing/annoying noise might be from drain pipes that are not straight etc. How about a sump picture....a lot of us are very interested in equipment. Less flow will be quieter not louder generally speaking.
This is just my opinion...I wouldn't want that many hermits, sifting stars, brittle stars, or emerald crabs.
I would go with something like.
Scarlet Reef Hermits 5
Blue Leg Hermits 10
Astraea Turbo Snails 10
Nassarius Snails 10
Nerite Snails 10
Cerith Snails 10
Peppermint Shrimp 2
Sand Sifting...
I have two different pumps one Toms Aqualifter...about as cheap as you can get(aware that sometimes they die on ya but the cost at 10 bucks its all good), and one powerhead type pump that I use for water changes. Two buckets one RO and one SW and just unplug the top off plug in the salt water...
If you have a newer furnace it will remove the humidity from the air, now you probably are not running either the furnace or the AC so your air is more humid. That would certainly account for some of it. Have you changed the position of any power heads...less surface agitation would create less...
I am not sure if the system I got will work well for your tank. Without looking for your thread if you have a sump I would recommend the Reef Fanatic it works great ... I have the duel sensors setup in the sump one is the "on" float and the other is the "OH CRAP" off float. You can also put one...
Yes Ca is good start. Auto top off is so much easier if you do that you will be super happy.
I got the Reef Fanatic controller from Prem Aquatics last group buy and it has made my life much easier.
Next I want to get a controller also either the AQ Jr or the new Lite version Neptune I think it...
Where do you stand? What sort of tank do you have?
If you have a reef ready tank then.
Musts: Lights, return pump, heaters, powerheads and a thermometer.
If nano leave out the return pump.
Next I would say would be a skimmer.
