It might help you I have one running and well not a huge difference that I notice. But, when I used Phosban in my nano it made more of a difference honestly. I think my fuge is working better now....of course my fuge is the size of my old nano ;) so that is not fair.
Looking at it I sort of...
If you nitrates and nitrites are zero then get another ammonia kit ... could be something as simple as that. If everying looks good then maybe the kit is bad.
I think all the diminutive angels are similar. My pygmy never bothered the zoas...the hairy mushrooms once in a while, I think he wasn't too bright and thought they were worms. ::) Flames are beautiful though too. If you don't feed them they maybe would pick more, but that goes for the lot of...
I guess I knew that part but was trying to think of the how it actually works...like what happens inside the bulb ??? much like what happens inside my head when I type before I think.
I love this question.
There is absolutely no right answer ;D. But a whole bunch of good ones.
First I commend you for figuring it out first. We have all probably have had a fish we wish we didn't get.
OK well he has calmed down since the upgrade but you get the idea.
Other suggestions for...
Wow lucky to have such good pod type growth.
PC lights need to be changed after 9 months...T5s you can go about 1 year.
I cannot explain the exact way it works but after about 9 months the bulbs just seem to promote the wrong sort of growth.
Hey Bill I have a question. I see your hammer on this last pic is darn close to the caps up on top there, since they are in easy reach of sweeper tenacles do they often get stung? I tried to sort of aquascape similarly to you and if my corals ever grow up like yours I guess I could end up in...
Hey looks like you did a good job, fuge mods are nice touch IMHO, but wouldn't add any other fish(not suggesting you were going to).
I can understand the worry that some people have but....but...if you are careful and watch your water parameters, don't overfeed...you can continue to pull it...
Couple of us have bought the Catalina Aquarium T5 lights and are happy with them. Though I would suggest replacing the bulbs as you go, I found some of the other bulbs have better colors.
Well first welcome aboard great to see a newcomer with a super first post.
I am a T5 person, I would say for your tank 6x54W would be good. Given normal shape tank right?
I will point out we have a couple guys who use VHO bulbs for LPS ...check out blange's tank thread you may have more...
I am not really argueing ... think it may depend more on the type of clam. For sure as Wendy pointed out some should go way up there. I was just stating my personal experience.
I have a derasa clam on the bottom of my 120 about 20 inches down with T5 lighting. I do keep a fairly long photo period, feed phyto, and he stays on the sand. Derasa clams are more sand bed oriented and don't attach themselves to anything. I have had good growth got the typical 2 1/2 inch 40$...
Tank looks really great. I wish I could have helped/watched you make the move I am sure it would have been a lesson in tankscaping. Really just amazing.
