Kids got the itch back...

No one here steered you wrong. Read this http://www.drtimsaquatics.com/resources/how-to-start The shrimp you added has added ammonia to start the cycle. You will find out in this hobby there are many vetting opinions on different topics. This doesn't mean one of the other is wrong...

    Kschweers rebuild. 57g rimless

Thanks for the offer Dan. I will definitely be in touch. I was leaning towards steel because of cost and the fact that I plan on painting them to match everything else. My idea is basically and upside down "L" which I will bolt directly to the stand. Kind of like this but most likely...

    Kschweers rebuild. 57g rimless

Great idea Jose. I will do that next time I get a little extra time. This is part of the reason I left it at the shop. I can work on it right when I get off of work when I'm still in "work mode" not "need to go to sleep mode". Lol

    Kschweers rebuild. 57g rimless

So it's been a very long time with absolutely no progress. I am happy to say that has changed. It's not much but at least it's progress. I went to help Edwin (ecambro) with some plumbing on his new tank, which is really coming together nicely, and he gave me the 57 rimless he had set up...

    Challis coral bleaching

Chalices and LEDs can be a little tough sometimes. I have heard this a few times with led users. I would suggest getting them out of direct light for the time being until the my start to recover. Then slowly move them into a low light spot in the tank. What kind of flow are they getting?

    Problems with Tapatalk

Have you guys updated tapatalk lately? I recently did and some of my issues went away. The new format takes some getting used to but it's not too bad.

Quick Question about Dr. Tims Waste Away

Whenever I dose anything I put it either into the overflow box or into the sump. I think the additive you are talking about is bacteria so I wouldn't be concerned about putting it directly into the tank. If you dose 2 part I would make sure it goes either in the sump or over flow. Let us...

    Kids got the itch back...

I wouldn't be worried about a frozen shrimp. Many of the commercially made frozen food we use in our tanks contain preservatives. 1 should be plenty for your tank. I would leave the filter on. Has the tank cleared up for you?

I agree with using the shrimp. No need to put a fish through any undue stress or even worth death when there are other methods.
