I retested and I got the same results. I am using Salifert ALK Test kit. About a week ago I started running a CA Reactor (never ran/used one before). After it ran for a few days I tested for Alk and the readings were dKH=6.1 and ALK=2.17. I was told to shut the reactor off, so I did. Today I...
How good is the Pinpoint Salinity Monitor? Are the accurate? Since the group buy is right around the corner, I might as well take advantage. I'm getting tired of my refractometer. If there is another one that you use, please post. Thanks
Try this...... Fill the 75 right below the the overflow holes. Make sure there is no water overflowing. Than fill the sump until 1" below the highest baffle rim. Now turn on the return pump. Wait a couple of minutes and mark where the water line is on the sump. After that.....Its all...
Alk is 2.17
KH is 6.1
CA is 400
What do I use to dose Alk? This is the first time that I test for Mag. I haven't been dosing anything for 5 months other than for CA. My CA reactor has only been running for two weeks. The reason why I turned it on was because I noticed my caps turning a little...
I tested for Magnesium twice seperate days. Both readings are 1440. How can I lower it or is OK for it to be high. On another note, the ph is 7.86. Is there a quick way to raise the ph?
Yeah, I had to cut the center brace :(. It was a newbie mistake. When I was drilling the holes, I had both section held with clamps just so the holes would align correctly when I remove the section apart. While drilling the holes with a hole saw, I didn't realize that the acrylic was melting...
Will a 3000GPH + external pump be to much for a 90 gallon bowfront tank? The pump will be used in a closed loop running an Oceans Motions 4 way. Are the Sequence pump the better choice when it comes to using less power? I would like to purchase a pump in the group buy.
OK, I found the problem. I just had the water to high in the return section. The water coming down the baffle was not creating enough turbulance in the water to dirupt the film. The water was as high as 9" and the baffle is 10". I lowered the water a couple of inches and now the film is gone.
Some of you have seen the sump that I've been working on in the DIY thread. Well it been up and running for two weeks and now I have a small problem. I've noticed that a film is accumulating on top of the water in the return section. What do most of you do to eliminate this?
Well here is an update on my sump. I finally got it running. Since my first idea wasn't going to work, I drilled three more holes and kept the output of the skimmer to drain in the same compartment which the skimmer is in. I am very happy the way it came out. I want to thank all of you for your...
I am definitely interested. I have a 72 bowfront that I would like to make an external overflow. While I'm at it, I would like to drill a 2" hole for a closed loop. Please, let me know if you guys/gals are going to get together and do this. I just need to know a few days in advance so that I can...
I've thought about this problem, when it was first on paper. My solution was to control the incomming water with a ball vavle and control the return with a ball valve. But now that everyone is mentioning it, I am having second thoughts. The dial in would have to be perfect.
What if I make two...
Yes, that is what I am saying. The T will have a valve to control the amount of water going into the fuge section. The reason why the baffle is that tall, is because that section is only 8"x10". I want more dirty water from the tank to go to that section so the Micro Algae can gro. The more area...
The reason I want more area on my return section, is because thats where the water evaperates the most/fastests. The skimmer section and the fuge will always stay the same. I only have a 72 gal tank. I think that the fuge section will sufice for that size tank.
