Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
OK you two pansies, let me give you the advice my father gave me years ago:
You’re the one who wanted to play house! Live with it!
Oh yeah, he was a World War II Marine! Growing up in our house, he was the Drill Sergeant, and my sister and I were two of his PFC's. :nervous
If it's old school, you're adding CO2 to the house.....if it's relatively new, that is energy efficient, and draws air for the outside for combustion, not so much.
"Two Part" is alk and calc.
I need to take a step back and ask:
How big is your tank?
What kind of corals do you have or is it FO/FOWLR?
What test kits do you use to measure Alk, Calc and Mag?
If it is a reef tank with lps/sps, it will be consuming alk and calc daily. I don't...
As far as stabilizing your alk, I would recommend dosing daily. How much does your alk number drop in a week? SPS does not like alk swings. The more stable you can keep your alk number the better off you will be.
I say throw out your pH probe. Your pH is fine. 7.8 is on the low end, but still acceptable. Probably that low because the house is closed up and you have a bit of CO2 built up in the house/tank. Also, you don't want to add soda ash (sodium carbonate) to adjust pH....you want to add...
We had someone I can't remember do a demo at one of our monthly meetings....actually on using cement to attach rock. (Hopefully Ed will chime in because I believe he tried this himself.) He used a hydraulic cement. You can pick this stuff up in tubs that look like about a gallon or...
Wow! Thanks everyone. I’m not sure why I got this. I’ll have to go over to R2R and find out. Interestingly the guy who announced this, I had just corrected him on an error he made in the chemistry section. I’ll have to check the time of the posts to see if he announced this before or...
?????? You had to have left out the minimum yearly bulb changes in your calculations. Forget about electric consumption, the bulbs alone make LEDs the light of choice as far as cost.
