Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I think the usual reason is we start with Kalk and when our balanced CA/Alk demand exceeds the ability of our Kalk drip process to replenish, we supplement with 2-part or move to a calcium reactor.
I stayed with the kalk instead of moving exclusively to 2-part as I have an automated topoff...
Well the upgrade to a 180 is now a future project, but my energy will go into a new frag tank and a major overhaul of my 55 gallon softie tank.
Stay tuned for more tales from blange3's tanks!! ;)
Sorry Phyl,
I've got to weigh in with John!
The too good to be true price was the only reason I could do this now. Plus the extra depth of the 210 wouldn't play well with my desire to stay VHO only.
Hey Andrew, things will work out, don't feel bad for me. I'll soon have a rockin' 30 gallon...
Well, disregard that last post.
Seems the patient got in an argument with a hard surface on the way out of the basement and lost! The result is a chipped corner. :'(
I feel bad for Andrew, who is a great guy.
This would make a great reptile setup, so if anyone has a use for that, contact...
One of my father's favorite fish stories was how he came home to a cloudy beyond recognition tank and his toddler son announced, "Daddy the fishies were hungry, I fed them milk!"
Good thing it was freshwater and I outgrew that habit!
It sounds like Sunday afternoon may be pickup day.
Just a pickup in Cranford, the tank will already be out of the basement, and a move into my basement in Woodbridge. Down the stairs into the basement may be a bit tricky.
No exciting stuff like breaking down or setting up tanks, but we can all...
Not only Kalk, but increased water changes. On the 75 I'm changing 10-15 gallons every week.
I'll be changing tonight and testing my levels. So far since I switched to this method CA has run about 430, Alk 2.75.
I have mostly LPS and some caps and a milli. It is a fairly full, mature, thriving...
I was dosing 150 ml daily of Randy's Two part formulas in my 75 and 30 ml on my 55.
I did it manually. On the 75 I used airline tubing and dripped. On the 55 I used the little cups that come with B-Ionic.
I was considering a dosing pump, but since have abandoned 2-part.
I have doubled the...
And if you were referring to my 180!
Andrew's had some family issues and is behind on emptying it.
I have had some lazy issues and am behind on getting ready.
I'm hoping to pick it up in the next two weeks. Setup by the end of the month is the goal. Next milestone is putting in the new outlet...
I haven't tried the tank to tank method. You caught my interest with that one, at least as a curative method. Sounds like a lot of stress for prevention, but it makes sense.
I don't do any preventitive dips. Good old methylene blue, talk about Old School! I was not aware of it's detoxifying...
In the early days they were just too expensive.
Later when I had the means, I knew I didn't have the tank for them. My current 75 is the largest tank I have ever owned. When I make the jump to the 180, I'm sure I'll have to beat back the demons tempting me! ::)
I'll wait and see how you do...
I would imagine the restaurant contracts somone who stocks and maintains the tank and hasn't a clue. I would mention it to the manager. He probably doesn't know the difference between ich and the salt shakers in his Cafe.
I bet he is as lost with his tanks as he would be in a RainForest...
Next time try high salinity. That is supposed to bring them running.
I'll let you know. I've been hearing popping in my 55 and my 30 QT tank. I have rock in the QT because the last inhabitant was a flame angel.
My suspicions were confirmed when I found the head from a molt while doing a water...
So Carlo, I know you know this is one of the favorite 'leave it in the ocean fish' fish, so no lectures here.
Have you checked out the Moorish Idol thread on RC lately? I haven't been there in a while but the latest success recipe seemed to be large well established reef tanks and only keeping...
