    ATLL'S 65 Gallon Reef

Yeah, you'll need an electric drill with the right size masonry bit. Drills into live rock like a hot knife through butter.

    Marks...Back to the Future..Reef Aquarium

I’ve got the same Kreg as Mark off Amazon and picked up the clamp off Ebay HERE. When you order the kit from amazon, throw in an order for screws as well. Note that there are two different screws….one for soft woods and one for hard woods. You can do everything with this basic...

    Austyn's 125 Gal mixed reef...

First off the canopy and lights look fantastic. So the fixtures will be sitting on top of the canopy? And I have to assume you have cut-outs for these lights. One note…from my experience with a nano-canopy….is that canopy completely closed up? If so, the issue I had was moisture...

    DIY stand

If you are going to paint it, just use a good primer(I like Kilz Complete) and a good exterior latex (or spray paint). if you wish to put Polyurethane over it (which I wouldn't recommend), go with a spar varnish or marine varnish/polyurethane.

    Classklown's 40B SPS Paradise

You make it sound like an anemone has cognitive reasoning in killing....or wanting to eat a parasite...which doesn't happen. Unfortuantely nematocysts are simply triggered by touch. The animal could be dead and the mematocyst will still be triggered by touch and sting you. I know this first...

    Classklown's 40B SPS Paradise

Hey Kyle, good stuff, thanks for the synopsis I’ve learned something today. But I have one more question….from this statement, “…the external parasitic disease fighting benefit that their mutalistic relationship with anemones provides due to the nemacyst in their tentacles.” Are you saying...

    Light Intensity Question

What a great question. I have advanced degrees in ignorance (some call it philosophy), so take this with a grain of salt. Plants require a minimum photoperiod to live (and actually it is uninterrupted darkness to flower). Since almost all the corals we have are in a symbiotic relationship...

    Classklown's 40B SPS Paradise

Kyle, your comment about your animal behavior final caught my interest. I am degreed in Biology (and Chemistry), albeit 40 years ago. I also say this with ignorance because I’ve never looked into the voodoo magic that goes on with sexing clownfish. However, I never would have guessed it to...

    Quality Power Strips

If you have one of these, UNPLUG IT NOW! They are a fire waiting to happen. Click on the link I have above and read it. They were sold under a couple different names, but all look exactly like the picture I posted. These have been responsible for total house loss because of fire. That...

    King Brothers

I go for slip as well. You also might wish to consider true union valves so that you could open them up to clean or to move something around.

    Quality Power Strips

I use three different power strips…one metal and two plastic. I’ve got to believe the plastic ones are fairly inexpensive. One note of caution, stay away from THESE.

    Refractometer Maintenance

My gosh! Everyone’s a comedian tonight. Might as well add to it: Jim, seek immediate medical help if you experience a stiffness lasting more than 4 hours. :o For real, I tried Glucosamine with chondroitin (along with Baxyl), and none of these worked for me. It might be that I’m...

    Refractometer Maintenance

How are the hinges on your refractometer? If they are at all stiff….don’t swing very easily….you are getting a false reading. Stiff hinges will cause for a false low reading (resulting in higher salinity then what the refractometer says.) If you are a constant recalibrater, you will be...

    300 is on the stand!

Looks great Chris. I’m willing to bet there was a lot of grunting and groaning going on with this move. I think I’ve got a couple pains and twitching just thinking about it!

    What happened to my Nori!

Kan Man Oriental Market at 511 Old Post Road in Edison did not have that specific brand of Nori that I wanted. Also rather limited on selection. However, because of the need to have some, I bought this brand…which stated that is was roasted. Thanks for the other leads on other...
