As long as it does not freeze in the winter you should be ok. You will however most likely notice slower water production in the colder months. This is because when the water is colder the membrane "contracts" for lack of a better term.

I have heard a lot of mixed reviews on doing this. Some say its perfectly fine and others say it can lead to crazing. I have not personally done it but when talking to a tank manufacturer I know he advised against it and said that they do not do it to any of there tanks

I'm in brigantine right next to atlantic city. It takes me about 45 minutes to get to aquarium center. If it would help you out at all I can bring them to my house for you to pick up if it makes it any easier for you. Just let me know.
