July Meeting - Elos AquaStudio New York! - July 27th

Well, the frag swap is over and now it's back to business as usual as far as club meetings go.... or is it? No, it certainly is not! We're happy to announce that we will be trying something new. We're going to allow some of our LFS sponsors to host club meetings every few months and mix them...

    Independence Day

Happy 4th everyone! Not sure where I'll be for fireworks yet, still trying to figure that out.

    Lion Fish

They are beautiful and tasty... but also dangerous to reefs because they have no natural predators. Most dive vacation areas ask you to report whenever/wherever you see one so they can try to capture them.

    Congratulation Jim

Congrats Jim! That's quite an honor to be selected out of that large membership base they have over there. From getting to know you personally and knowing how you get involved here on our site... I'd have to say that it's definitely well deserved.

    Anyone else see this?

Wow, I didn't even hear about this. Weather's getting a lil crazy around here lately!

    JBJ 28 Hoods

No rush Ant. I had plans for a seahorse tank for that one day and it likely won't happen any time soon. I just didn't want to pass up on this hood because they don't make em anymore.

    JBJ 28 Hoods

Or maybe I buy both for $80 and charge Matt $60 for the other... supply and demand and all that? Naa, just kidding. I'd be very happy with us paying $40 each. In fact, he can have the power unit for the LEDs too since I won't need it. See you at Herbie's Paul.

    JBJ 28 Hoods

Almost forgot about this, but I just went and measured. My lid is basically the same, maybe a 1/16" off on a measurement or two, but I'm sure it will work. Now my only issue is that I also just remembered I lent my 24g nano to Tony and Teri so I'll need to get that back to test it for sure...

    JBJ 28 Hoods

Thanks Paul, I'll measure when I get home tonight. Matt, I'd prefer the one that doesn't have the heat/burn damage. I'm planning on doing an LED retro on it anyway.

    JBJ 28 Hoods

Hey Paul, I may be interested in 1 or both. I have a JBJ 24G that has a damaged hood and it's only the PC lighting. I'd like to see if your hoods will snap into the 24g tank, and if so, I'm definitely interested.

Sorry Austyn, frag swap planning must have caused me to miss this one. Happy Belated and thanks for your service. Be safe over there!

    What's blue?

That pic was not mine, only of a similar one I found online. I got mine from Steve from Ultra Corals and Fish (at the Frag Swap). I think he had one left at the swap, but not sure if he still has any more.

    Job Posting: Aquarium Service Technician

We normally don't allow advertisements for job postings...but the BOD considered this and we will allow it because we feel it may benefit one of our members by finding a job in the hobby. If anyone else would like to post a job ad, please pm an officer with the request first.

    HELP! - Computer Geeks

+1 I doubt putting it in the freezer would do anything to help. It's possible that the HDD could get too hot and cause issues, but that would be the only "fix" that a freezer could provide. I'm sure if it was overheating that caused this to begin with, it would have been "fixed" after cooling...

    leds for a biocube

That's a quality kit and I'm sure it will be good enough to grow anything in the 29g. It's dimmable but not controllable... meaning you have to manually adjust each channel by hand instead of programming it in. For a retro kit though, it's probably the best you will find. The new RAZR's...
