Your Best 'Do You Remember When?' Story...

Well caveman Jim, you had me going for a fraction of a second until I got to Trilobites…..since Trilobites were around during the Paleozoic era, where mammals didn’t exist, I’m assuming you pulled a Shirley MacLaine, and were reincarnated….maybe as that little dinosaur blowing bubbles through...

    how much carbon?

I have a 90 DT with a 40 sump and use ca 3 cups in the reactor. I change it about every month to two months.

    Overflow location suggestions

Jose, first let me explain my sump…..the 1500 gpd GH overflow has two, 1 ½ inch drains that enter my sump in each corner. The right side is the refugium, while the left side is the filter sock and skimmer. The return section is in the middle. And it’s a 40 breeder. My first DIY sump was...

    New Generator

I don't believe thieves are an issue for me....I'm totally fenced in.....in ground pool in the backyard. As far as gas....two, five gallon gas tanks. Other then the first couple days after Sandy where I siphoned gas from my cars, the two cans worked great.

    Overflow location suggestions

Whatever Glass-Holes option you go with....two 700's or one 1500, I'd go with a bigger return pump....either a MAG 9.5 or 12. You do have considerable head loss, even at four of five feet. I have a MAG 9.5 on my tank.

    New Generator

Jim, funny you should bring this up. This past two weeks I’ve been kicking around design options for a generator shed. With Sandy last year, my generator was on my screened side porch of the house. The complaint I got from management was that it was too loud. I have two 100 foot 10/12...

    Overflow location suggestions

Slap the 1500 overflow right in the middle and have multiple returns on either side. I have a five foot tank with the 1500 GH with four returns.

Olivier, glad to see you are still around. I’m looking forward to seeing you again. I owe you five bucks, so that should be incentive for you to show up.

    Zippys tank

Wow! I'm impressed. Pete, I have a kiln that you can borrow, it needed. And I mean borrow, because I don't want to watch my electric meter spin faster than a B17's propeller. It's 220 volts, and relatively easy to transport.

Reefer in North Jersey that can drill a nano?

Purchase a Glass-Holes overflow kit and it will come with the drill bit. Do it yourself.....it's easy!

    Transfer switch installation.

Realize James (JR Wohler) had his installed a number of years ago. My neighbor just had a 10K installed and the cost was $10500. I think it's call inflation...or post Sandy pricing. :o

    Holiday Party!

Hey bean-head, I attended and graduated from the Chris Christie School on Etiquette….with honors! Therefore, I have no problems telling these blithering idiots what they need to do. And as far as pay is concerned, it matches my current salary, so I'm good.:grin::grin::grin...

14K is a BIG unit. I would think 8 to 10 would be more than enough.

    Holiday Party!

George, I don’t get this! I’d pay the $30 just to hear Ken Nedimeyer again. And I’ve got to drive over an hour to get there….and it’s in southern Jersey. Come on people, especially you southern folks….it’s in your backyard. You won’t be disappointed. We get more people at a monthly...

Saddest day of my reefkeeping existance

James, very sorry to see this. What I don’t understand is that you have a whole house generator, if I remember correctly. What happened? Also let me know if there is anything I could do to help.

    My new 40 breeder

My son dumped off his aptasia infested rock last Christmas vacation on his move from Rhode Island to South Carolina. He wanted to put this rock into my 90 DT….that didn’t go over well. So we quickly set up the JBJ 28 and put his rock in there. I was concerned about killing these...

Most towns require a licensed electrician.....and a good number require inspection. I know Sayreville requires inspection/permit.

    65 to 120 Upgrade

Some epoxy and either plastic screen or fiberglass cloth. JB Weld is an epoxy that is black to dark gray, and will better match what appears to be a black plastic frame.
