Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I have to agree with Hockeynut on the use of a straddle valve. However, I do disagree with him about supplying sufficient pressure (volume.) A straddle valve will provide the volume needed to run the sized RO/DI units we use.
Here’s my two cents……straddle valves work great for ice...
If this helps, here is a video from BRS that shows how to hook it up:

Rob, go back another decade and remember skates that needed a key. We kept that key on a string around our neck. But we got inventive and took the skate apart and screwed it to a board to make a skate board. I can remember going down our driveway with minimal control.....and crashing into...
Tommy, what fixture are you using over your frag tank. I’m going to be setting up a similar size frag tank and would like to know what you’re using.
I like the DT/Frag tank arrangement you have, getting frags out of the DT, and not cluttering up the DT.. However, I do have a slight...
I too have a male blue throat and he’s a pig. He’s first to the table on anything that is put into the tank……including the algae I put in for the tangs; mysis; home-made frozen food; flakes; pellets; anything. Eats algae off the algae clip. If he doesn’t like it, he spits it out….and...
Welcome Keith. What part of the State are you from?
(From R2R....and it is an arm of a mini brittle star...good to have. They don't get more than an inch or so across.)
This is a multiple choice answer:
1. I’m cheap! (Ask my wife.)
2. I didn’t like my calc numbers from pure RC. They were high.
3. Dr. Randy Holmes Farley, the God of reef chemistry, uses IO. (Did I mention I’m a chemist.)
4. All of the above.
5. None of the above.
6. Who cares...
Ignorance is what makes a man a man….or at least this is true for me. I can’t get much more ignorant than I already am, so I thought.
I’m in the process of switching over from Reef Crystals to Instant Ocean…or maybe a mix of the two. In this process I’ve been mixing up my new saltwater at...
James, your bringing back memories from the 60’s…..multiple slate bottom tanks with stainless steel corner trim, and some black goop that held it all together. Not sure if it was silicone or not, but I remember it oozing out Also had all those tanks set up with under-gravel filters, and a...
The following are with all due respect (i.e. it’s my opinion, and I’m never wrong!:grin::grin: ):
The first part of this in NOT TRUE. I have had both an MRC 2 and MRC 3…..external becketted skimmers. They were, without doubt, the best skimmers I’ve own as far as pulling the gunk...
I shall be the nay-sayer.
I recently started biopellets and am now considering turning my refugium into a frag tank section. The biopellets take over the job of the refugium.
If you have a “conventional” sump/refugium…..I’m all for the refugium!
Pete, I shall put on my “now you are four years old” hat……”nanny, nanny, poo, poo to you.” That translates to the negative words you said when I mentioned I was using Bayer (on my corals only)!
Just keep it away from your bees.
And I use it at 1 ml per 100 mls tank water….for about 15...
Pete, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if Eva thinks that you just built her a nice playhouse….and you are now going to take it away.....you mean daddy.
Looking good…..love the DIY stuff.
Hey, are you going to believe ThatGuy or God. According to God, you should have them in four days........And on the fourth day God said, "Let there be Lights." :p
When I use to dose manually, I used these quart bottles with the delivery spout on the top. Made measuring out very easy. They are actually B-Ionic bottles. Pick up in Sayreville.
