Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
You will definitely be happy with the Apollo LEDs. I have the 1st Gen. 5000 UV model and I love them!
If you plan to build a canopy for them, here's how I made mine:
That last one is before it was finished... but you can see how the fixture fits nice and snug in the "tray" created by the...
Sorry to hear about your losses.
Since you now have 2 empty tanks, any chance you'd like to start up a FOWLER? Tony and Terri have 4 beautiful, large fish that we rescued from The Dive Shop in Cherry Hill when they lost power from Sandy.
These are BIG fish so they would need at least a...
Matt is correct. ORP is a good thing to monitor to have a baseline over time to see if you have drastic changes in your tank... but there are many things that affect it and it's difficult to categorize it into a specific parameter range as "normal".
For instance, the amount of oxygen (and more...
Ouch! Sorry to hear that Mike. I cracked the bottom of my very first tank before I ever got it setup so I know how you feel.
After carefully drilling holes for the bulkheads in the garage... I hastily tried to move it by myself by rolling it on a couple PVC pipes (it was a 135g tank)...
Yea, big difference Paul. It probably is due to the mesh sock (I get it too) but I noticed it got a lot worse once I started running bio pellets. Are you using those too?
Dan, have you dipped any other corals besides the zoas lately? If so, how do they look? Maybe you're mixing the dip too strong or leaving the zoas in it too long?
I occasionally see small baby snails in my tank and they look like they are just round dots. I've picked one off a rock and looked underneath and noticed the "suction cup" type body underneath.
Maybe you should try picking one off to see if there's any life under it or if it's just a calcium...
Looks great! It's always nice to see the young ones getting an interest in the hobby and Joseph is off to a great start.
Is he the one that came with you to The Hidden Reef on Saturday? If I had known about this ahead of time I could have brought him a couple freebie frags.
Next time you...
Steve's LED's just recently became a sponsor of our club. I don't know if he'll give a discount, but it might be worth mentioning to him that you're a member here.
He donated a $125 gift cert that was supposed to be raffled off at our frag swap, but that's on hold until we reschedule it.
I've had an Eibli Angel (dwarf) in my tank for quite a while and it's been a model citizen. Never even looked at a coral and is a fairly timid fish in regards to aggressiveness.
When I first got him, I quarantined him for a month in my nano (observation only, no signs of any diseases, etc.) and...
Sorry to hear that man. Sounds like too many things going on at once and that's hard to pinpoint an exact culprit. I agree that it was likely a combination that caused the issues.
Good luck in keeping whatever you can alive!
I just trimmed mine this weekend as well. I'll have another big clump available to bring to the Holiday Party at Mnat's (Dec. 8th) if anyone needs it. Just send me a PM and first to ask will get it.
