Mott I agree with you ... but the idea of spending 125 bucks on sand ...sand...is just wrong. I bit the bullet and did it but every cheap gene in my body was complaining VERY loudly. I did a mix of live and non live Caribsea very fine sand. I never really had problems in my nano once I got my...
I was reading an article that wherever they decide to set up shop it is good to place some building materials close...like tiny rubble shells ect in their area.
Thanks Chase I haven't read FantasyReef yet. I think I have visited the others a bunch. I guess I am just looking for personal experiences, though I understand all fish have individual personalities so you can get a nice angel or a tang that destroys everything.
Wow :o you really got the hang of it fast. Nice job but just to state I would move the edges in away from the wall...then use those rocks to build up a little.
Sorry I wasn't suggesting I was just going to buy what he had on hand...of course it is hard to buy something he doesn't have. I am not 100% set on what fish I am going to buy. I know that we would like to get a hippo tang and probably another tang. At the same time I am trying to do my research...
Trop will test your water for you. They have salt and RO water up front. I used to use one for top off and the other for water change. They also sell refractometers I think I paid about 50 bucks for mine there. Pretty good quality.
Yes going forward use the drip method for everything...there are a lot more parameters to consider with salt water that fresh water fish can handle better. I even do a drip method for freshwater now though.
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
Thanks Mom ;)...and thanks for all the updates as I followed you and Wendy, tried to borrow some idea's and learn as much as possible from you both. And yes the swap and AO sale are pretty convienent.
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
Thanks I will try reducing first then increasing later. Someone also suggested removing slack from the flexible pipes. It is that sound you are correct flushing would be it.
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
Thanks I stole all my good ideas from you ;). I find the readings to be as accurate as they were before ::).
My idea was sort of to have two distinct hills the smaller one on the right has those corals that well could almost be considered...
The tank is a 4x2 tank same as yours. I am looking at buying the fish at Will's anniversary sale...for sure not full grown. Of course what he has in stock that day may determine what goes into the tank to some degree. I sort of assume he will be stocking up a bit for the day(hoping and praying...
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
In the white flexible pipes leading from the tank to the sump air is getting drawn though so I am getting air coming out into the sump.
I want to bump this up as I have my other tank up and running...I have a thread in TOT...hope it adds some extra piece to the puzzle....also I plan on using my old 24 G AP as QT tank going forward...will this be OK for tangs?
Thanks
James
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
I was running it at 25 on my AP. I errored on the low side to be honest with you, I had never made my own water and some of the water I had in my tubs was lower then what I am running now so I didn't want to shock everthing by changing sality too...
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
OK so I have not updated this since the "waiting patiently for the tank" stage.
Few weeks ago the tank came in and I got it moved into place. As I was cleaning I found out the floor was not nearly as level as I had hoped. With help from MikeM and...
